Set back in mountains, this exceptionally spacious and retreat-like villa overlooks the unspoiled Spanish village of Gualchos - a perfect holiday destination. The property features 5 spacious bedrooms - 3 with en-suite shower rooms and a large main family bathroom. Each bedroom offers its own stunning view of the mountains, sea or the perfectly preened and lush gardens in the acres of surrounding land. There is a large fitted kitchen, with fridge/freezer, oven, 5 ring hob, microwave oven and dishwasher. The large dining area and living room have double aspect windows, letting in lashings of light and the surrounding views - the Eagles Peak can be seen clearly from one of these windows! The swimming pool has its own built in BBQ area, shower and bar for extra shade - an ideal setting for those warm evenings or days when you just fancy lazing around. The large terrace beside the pool is just one of the many spots to take in the panoramic view.

This fantastic property is set high above sea level on a peak in the Sierra Nevadas, with breathtaking views from every window and terrace. Its ideal location is just a ten minute drive from the nearest beach, and an hour away from the popular Sierra Nevada skiing destination! The villa overlooks the sleepy Spanish village of Gualchos, with its own mountain spring. The Spaniards travel miles to collect water here, believing it to be the freshest spring. Gualchos is predominantly inhabited by friendly Spanish families who have lived in the village for generations. There are a handful of English, French and Danes who have stumbled accross this hidden gem and fallen in love with it - always too happy to help any passers-through. The local beach is only a 10 minute ride away in Castell de Ferro, itself a small traditional fishing town, offering a range of restaurants, bars and shops. Additional information about rental rates

  • These are exceptional promotional rates. Book early to avoid disappointments. Rental Rates for the Christmas and Easter weeks may vary according to which dates these fall on year by year. A non-refundable deposit of £150 is required to secure a booking. The rental balance must be paid 4-6 weeks prior to start of rental period. A £100 damage/security deposit is required one week before collection of keys/start of rental period. This is refundable within one week on return of keys /end of rental, provided there is no damage, the linen/bedding washed and property left in a clean state.

    On receipt of all payments, guests will be sent contact details of local agents who will meet guests at an agreed location on arrival to hand over keys and be shown around the property. Out of hours meet and greet will be charged at an additional cost of 20 Euros, payable to agents. Please contact agents with details of your arrival/departure times and to agree meeting location in Gualchos.
  • Guests will not be able to gain access to the property before 2pm on the day of arrival, where there is a same day change over from a previous rental. Guests are expected to vacate the property by 12 noon on the day of departure. Some flexibility is possible on request. An inventory of the property will be carried out by agents before guests depart. Please allow some time for this to take place.
  • Grocery welcome packs, laundry service, cleaning service, cots, etc can be provided by local agents on request. A detailed list of available services and costs is available on request and also included in the welcome pack at the property. Guests are advised to take time to digest contents of the welcome pack to make their stay comfortable, enjoyable and safe.

Notes: Guests are expected to leave the villa in a clean state, as was found. All bedding and linen used should be left cleaned. A washing machine (and dryer for the winter months) is provided in the utility room for the convenience of guests. Where guests are unable to clean bedding/linen before departure, there is a laundry service available locally, charged at €2 per kilo. Likewise, a general cleaning service is available via agents at €10 per room - a list of all available services can be provided on request. Charges will be made against damages/security deposit where guests depart without leaving the property in a clean state and the linen/bedding used are left unlaundered.

Swimming Pool: The swimming pool is maintained weekly by a local agent. Guests staying a week plus are likely to encounter the agent who visits the property to maintain the pool during their stay. While guests are welcome to enjoy the facilities, care should be taken to avoid accidents. The owners or their agents will not be held liable for accidents/injuries. Guests are expected to leave the pool and pool area in a clean, safe and acceptable order after each use, and daily care as recommended by agent.

Gardens / Grounds : The gardens are regularly maintained. A gardener visits the property on a weekly basis to tend to plants and carry out general gardening. While guests are welcome to enjoy the grounds, please note owners or their agents are not liable for any accidents or injuries. Guests must not litter grounds or mistreat plants. Any damages will be deducted from the security deposit.

If you want a no-hassle, comfortable and quiet Spanish holiday, this is the place for you. The (non-smoking) house is cool, clean, well-appointed and has fantastic views off the mountain (the metalled track up to the house is a first-gear job!) and over to the sea. And the night skies...!

You soon get used to traipsing down to the Mina for delicious spring water (the tap water is OK but not recommended, just in case), the butane-bottled cooking, and living with the inevitable Spanish cesspit-related no-paper-in-the-loo regime. Part of the Experience.

The pool is large and a sun-trap. And the daily sweep-and-skim regime keeps you fit!

The village - Gualchos - is typically Spanish: friendly but not intrusive. Ten minutes away is the coast - magnificient and relatively unspoilt at the moment. Catch it while you can!

A wonderful place to rest and enjoy the best southern Spain has to offer!

Spent a very long weekend in this lovely villa from the 29th April til 3rd May. The weather at this time was great, really sunny and not unbearably hot. The views from the property are very spectacular; being so high up means you can see for miles over the surrounding mountains, the village and the sea. The villa itself is great, very spacious, relaxing and well-maintained. The location is very idyllic and private, perfect for a relaxing break. I would advise that a car is needed. A 10 minute walk (but down an extremely steep mountain road) is the village of Gualchos where there is a small convienience shop and a bar. However, own transport is necessary to go any further afield. Overall, a fantastic place which I would recommmend to anyone looking for a quiet, relaxing holiday in the sun.
