This corner of Provence is renowned for the production of wonderful wine & olive oil, both of which can be tasted at the many local châteaux. Birth place of Nostradamus and home to Vincent Van Gogh, St Rémy offers stylish shopping, restaurants, Roman ruins and one of the best markets in the area.
Les Alpilles dominate the landscape locally, and the ten minute journey through the hills to the famous hill top village of Les Baux rewards the traveller with a breathtaking vista across the plain, to the Carmargue and Mediterranean beyond.
Both Avignon and Arles are less than half an hour’s comfortable drive from St Remy, whilst Aix-en-Provence is less than an hour away. The sea at Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer is about an hour’s drive through the Carmargue, and the villages perchés of the Luberon make a memorable daytrip from St Remy.
