Situated on the edge of the National Park it is easy to feel secluded as you are surrounded by beautiful countryside. Enjoy walking or cycling around the hills, building dams in the river, picking wild flowers or painting the scenery, its all here on your doorstep. Or if you want to go adventuring only a half an hour drive south will take you to the beautiful city of Malaga where you can enjoy tapas and Picasso in the old town, or take a pony ride around the city and enjoy local seafood on the beaches of El Palo. Drive half an hour north up to the lakes of El Chorro, and follow the winding roads to experience the breathtaking views. There are plenty of local places to shop for food and local delicacies like Santa Rosalia or bigger supermarkets in Estacion. The Sunday market in Estacion is not to be missed. You can also sample freshly made churros on Sunday mornings in the village of El Sexmo and enjoy a small market on Tuesdays. Spit roast chickens are available on the weekends too.
