Photos and Description of this Cartama holiday farmhouse 3 bed house (sleep 6+1) and 2 bed house (sleep 4+1), rustic location by a stream

The original buildings date back to the 1960's and have recently been refurbished to a high standard whilst maintaining its character 'farmhouse' qualities. There are 2 separate living accommodations both rebuilt in traditional style with tiled floors and shuttered windows. Casa Mimosa sleeps 6 people and Casa Maxi sleeps 4. Both contain log burning stoves and A/C units, both essential depending on the time of year you visit, and both contain fully equipt fitted kitchens. Below the house there is a river and the surrounding hills offer endless opportunities for walking, cycling or painting. Goats graze regularly and their bells can often be heard as the sun sets behind the hills. The village of El Sexmo provides some basic shopping amenities such as supermarkets and restaurants, and is a 5 minute drive from the house. Casa Mimosa and Casa Maxi have shared use of the pool which makes it ideal for holidaying with friends and/or family.

Casa Maxi has recently been reformed to a very high standard and sleeps 4 people. It is has a large open plan kitchen/living area with fully fitted kitchen units, log burning stove and A/C unit. It has 1 double room, 1 twin room (bunk beds), and a bathroom. It has a small terrace outside the front door with steps down to a larger terrace at the front of the property where the childrens' swings can be used. This terrace connects to Casa Mimosa, with the shared pool area at the far end which makes it ideal for holidaying with friends and family. If the two separate properties are rented together they will comfortably sleep 10. Casa Maxi on its own sleeps 4. Casa Mimosa on its own sleeps 6.

Situated on the edge of the National Park it is easy to feel secluded as you are surrounded by beautiful countryside. Enjoy walking or cycling around the hills, building dams in the river, picking wild flowers or painting the scenery, its all here on your doorstep. Or if you want to go adventuring only a half an hour drive south will take you to the beautiful city of Malaga where you can enjoy tapas and Picasso in the old town, or take a pony ride around the city and enjoy local seafood on the beaches of El Palo. Drive half an hour north up to the lakes of El Chorro, and follow the winding roads to experience the breathtaking views. There are plenty of local places to shop for food and local delicacies like Santa Rosalia or bigger supermarkets in Estacion. The Sunday market in Estacion is not to be missed. You can also sample freshly made churros on Sunday mornings in the village of El Sexmo and enjoy a small market on Tuesdays. Spit roast chickens are available on the weekends too.

Additional information about rental rates

  • 50% deposit is required for bookings within 6 months of holidaying, with the other 50% being paid in cash (euros) on arrival to the property.
    20% deposit is required for bookings over 6 months of holidaying, a further 30% is required 2 months prior to the holiday, with the remaining 50% being paid in cash (euros) on arrival to the property.
    All deposits are non-refundable.
    Payment schemes can be negotiated for your convenience.
  • A 10% discount is available if both properties are rented together.
    It is possible to pay in Euros or Pound Sterling depending on what you prefer.
    Houses are not available before 14.30 and check out is by 10.30 if there is an immediate turnover required.
  • Prices include use of gas, electric and water. Linen and towels are also provided. Beach/pool towels are NOT included and are required.
    A security deposit of 100 euros is required upon arrival to ensure cover of any damage or breakages etc and will be returned upon departure.

Authentic spanish farmhouse

If you are looking for a quiet, relaxing and authentically spanish holiday, convenient to Malaga Airport, these two houses are ideal. The views down the valley from the terraces are delightful and the sound of goats in the early evening is very atmospheric. We made great use of the attractive terrace for barbeques and most meals. Unfortunately, the 'pool' was not ready for use during our stay. The last part of the drive to Casa Maxi is down a bumpy track - but you soon get used to it! Trips to the coast take about three-quarters of an hour. We particularly enjoyed shopping in the little covered market in nearby Rosalia. All in all a very enjoyable, relaxing holiday with friends and their children.

Fabulous family holiday with friends

We had such a wonderful time with our family and friends, we were very fortunate with the weather during February, which meant the kids (ages 11, 9, 5, 2) could all play outside. They really enjoyed the rural aspect and spend literally hours in the river bed making dams. We hunted for wild asparagus and flowers and particularly enjoyed the goats in the evening. On Sunday we went to the market in Estacion and then enjoyed listening the laughter of the spanish family on the other side of the hill clearly enjoying their sunday lunch. There was also a number of quad bikers who came through much to the kids (and dads) entertainment! The accommodation was comfortable and basic but for the price I thought it was well worth it. It works particulary well when you take both properties and you get to retain some space.
