Photos and Description of this Lot holiday hotel Studio sleeps 2+2, banks of Dordogne & easy walk (1km) to Souillac town centre.

Studio apartment located above riverside restaurant with pool. The studio has stunning views over the river Dordogne, which can be accessed directly from the property. The studio consists of large room with sleeping area, living space (with double sofa bed), shower room with basin and WC. The property is 1km from the centre of Souillac, which has all facilities e.g. banks, shops, Tourist Office as well as an old quarter and Abbey. There is a very pleasant riverside walk into the town. Canoeing is a popular activity on this part of the river, and a canoe slipway is located immediately to the rear of the property (facilities to store guests own canoes are available).

The property is located 1km from the centre of Souillac with its ancient Abbey and other attractions which can be reached by a pleasant 15 minute walk along the riverbank. There is an aqua park (+ other activities including canoeing and riding) which is ideal for families, just a few minutes walk away. The property is ideally situated to visit nearby historic villages including Sarlat, Domme, Baynac and Rocamadour all of which are within 30 minutes drive. There are many things to see and do in the area from activity parks to caves and castles and delightful walks. Brive-le-Gaillarde just 30 minutes by motorway is perfect for shopping, lunch and evenings out. Further afield there are the vineyards of Bergerac and Cahors, the porcelain factories and museums of Limoges to the north and the sights and shops of lively Toulouse to the south

Thanks to Brian, Sandra, Alan and everyone for a brilliant stay at Chapeau Melon.
We were the first guests and were really impressed with the lovely big room - and the amazing views!
The restarant and the food was wonderful, especially in the evenings.
Only 1 or 2 minor points to make stay perfect (more hooks in bathroom etc). It was good to have fridge toaster etc so we could make breakfast when ready.
Wishing you every success with this part of your venture.

A weekend at Le Chapeau Melon

5 senior citizens occupied both appartments over a weekend in July. We were visiting Souillac to join in the celebrations of the local Rugby Club's centenerary. The appartments had only just been finished and opened.
The appartments were well furnished and provided for but one of the shower rooms was quite small with a steep step down from the shower to a frquently damp floor.
The dining terrace and bar area and pool were excellent and the proximity to the river superb.A hand rail by the steps of the pool should be provided as otherwise access
to it is hazardous. The pool area also needs to be available to guests on Sundays when the restaurant was closed.
These niggles are probably teething troubles.
Our stay was most enjoyable and all concerned went out of thier way to be as helpful and friendly as possible.
Owner's Response: We appreciate these constructive comments and we will certainly modify the shower step-down in the studio concerned which we can see might be awkward for some of our more senior guests. We now provide better shower mats to alleviate any dampness generated by exiting the showers.
We are continuing to develop the riverside pool area, and will be shortly adding a metal step-ladder at the opposite end of the pool to the existing "roman steps".
Guests are now provided with all keys necessary to use the pool area when the restaurant is not open.
