Sugar Hill Harlem Inn is located in the landmark district of Sugar Hill, in a Victorian townhouse built in 1906. In 2001 we did a complete renovation of all the electric, the plumbing the bathrooms and the kitchens, taking great care to preserve the historical details of the building. We have solar panels on our roof and we are the only B&B in NYC that uses renewable energy. For full details of other environmental projects that we are involved in please visit our website. All our rooms come with: Air Conditioning; Cable TV, DVD and clock/radio; Iron and ironing board; Hair dryer; Safe Microwave oven and refrigerator or use of a full kitchen; Free wireless internet and/or use of computer and printer; Sheets, towels, bath robes, soap, shampoo, hand/body cream; Free cell phone usage on request; Private bathroom. We also have a lovely garden.

Lena's Room is named for Lena Horne who was born in Brooklyn and at the age of 16 performed at the cotton club. There she was introduced to the growing community of jazz performers including Billy Holiday, Cab Calloway and Duke Ellington. Lena's room is the most elaborately designed room in the house. The fireplace and wall are ordained with elaborate molding's. It is the most feminine and romantic room in the house. The four poster bed with all its gauzy fabrics is very much the center of the room. It comes with a small bathroom, with sink, toilet and shower only. So we jazzed it up with some offbeat tile colors of ruby red and royal blue.

Welcome to the Sugar Hill Harlem Inn. We invite you to experience a piece of American History. From the forgotten Weckquasgeek Tribe, to the first middle class families that moved to this block in 1906 to the Harlem Renaissance and right up until today. This part of Harlem breaths history like no other - Sugar Hill. This is after all where Miles Davis came to meet Sonny Rollins and hang out with him, and his Sugar Hill Harlem crowd. Even before that there was Duke Ellington, his buddy Billy Strayhorn and Paul Robeson, the list is long and there are many more. Sugar Hill Harlem Inn is located in the landmark district of Sugar Hill, in a Victorian townhouse built in 1906. In 2001 we did a complete renovation of all the electric, the plumbing the bathrooms and the kitchens, taking great care to preserve the historical details of the building. All our rooms were decorated by Carol Donawa, a graduate of The New York School of Interior Design.
