Speightstown holiday villa in West Coast

We stayed at Carizma in July 2011 and had a wonderful time! The house is everything it’s advertised to be – lovely, comfortable, scrupulously clean, etc., etc. One of many pleasant surprises was the quality and quantity of cooking equipment (as a passionate amateur cook, having access to sharp knives and decent pans while on vacation was lovely). Another lovely surprise was the welcome stocking of the refrigerator with eggs, butter, milk, bread and even a couple of Banks beers! The owner who met us a the house could not have been more pleasant or helpful. The neighborhood is relatively quiet and it’s a short walk down the hill to Speightstown and Heywoods beach. Having Carizma as a home base definitely enhanced our stay in Barbados.

We just returned home from a two week holiday in Barbados. As far as the Carizma is concerned, what you see on the website, is what you get. From the time we stepped in to the villa, we were impressed with the decor, the amenities provided, and its open plan concept providing guests with certainly a comfortable "Home Away From Home" feeling. Each morning, we enjoyed our breakfasts on the front patio, in the company of birds feasting on the bougainvilleas and other flowers.

Although we did have a rental car, one could easily manage getting around on public transit which is both cheap and efficient. This was our first visit to this beautiful island, and by having a car, we were able to explore its differents parts. Speightstown which provdes a couple of grocery stores, a bakery, bars, and restaurants is within an easy walk. Our favorite beach was Heywoods which is only a ten minute walk, and the water is so calm that one feels like being in a pool, and a very large one at that. We used both access points, the one in between the two resorts, and the other located to the north of Port St. Charles Resort. Should one decides to drive, plenty of free public parking is available at both locations.

We have visited most parts of the world, and of the Caribbean Islands, Barbados is by far at the top of the list. The Bajan people are extremely friendly, and most helpful. Put all that together with the Carizma, and a most enjoyable holiday is almost guaranteed.

My husband and I are sitting in Carizma enjoying the last few hours of the four weeks we've spent in this lovely place. We felt at home from the first step inside.

I love the cool breeze through the double French doors and the beautiful flowers that surround the villa. My husband loves the big flat screen TV and the cold Banks beer in the refrigerator. The bed is super and the shower is invigorating. We really hate to leave.

We walked or took the bus everywhere on the island because we didn't rent a car. My favorite tourist attraction was St Nicklas Abby and my husband was thrilled to be able to actually sit inside of the Concorde Jet and the Concorde Experience. We took an all day tour of the island with a local guide. We learned the names of many plants and flowers, saw many churches and schools, watched harvesting of sugar cane, visited the Queens Park where we saw a 400 year old Balboa tree and drove
along the south and east coast.

Needless to say, we had a terrific vacation.
