Nestled in the midst of the vineyards and hills of the Corbieres, overlooking the medieval village of Durban. The area has a rich cultural heritage, from the 12th century castle of Durban to the many vineyards and monasteries. With almost 300 days of sunshine annually, the area benefits from long, hot summers and brief, mild winters. The beautiful Mediterranean beaches are only a short drive away and provide excellent swimming and windsurfing opportunities. Within a short distance, the thriving market towns of Narbonne and Beziers provide a wide range of shops and services, whilst the city of Perpignan offers a vibrant mix of influences. The African reserve at Sigean is one of the most highly rated wildlife parks in Europe and is a mere 20 minute drive away. For food and wine lovers, there is a wide selection of local markets and restaurants. Wine tasting is popular hobby.

Notes: The living room has fabulous wood beams running across the high ceiling, it is bright and spacious, with a log fire for cosy evenings in, relaxing to the surround sound system, whether it is from some of the DVD's/CD's on offer in our library or watching one of the many SKY satellite channels on the flat screen TV. The villa has ceiling fans in all rooms. There is an extra standing fan available also. No need to store your luggage in your bedroom, we have a large internal garage that will accommodate all your luggage, bicycles, golf clubs, etc. For the children, we have a cot, high chair and stroller. We have a see saw, rocker and there are plenty of sand toys, buckets and spades and a variety of pool inflatables also. The sun trapped terraces have a table, chairs and parasol - perfect for relaxing in the lazy sunshine whilst taking in the scenic views. There is a Michelin starred restaurant a short drive away if you want a break from cooking or barbecuing at the villa

Local amenities: The village of Durban-Corbieres is a mere 5 minute walk. It has a supermarket, restaurant, bar, bakery, newsagents (daily English newspapers available), pharmacy, bank (has outdoor atm), post office, garage, petrol pumps, car wash, Cave co-op (local winery), doctor's surgery, boutique, some houses along the way even sell local honey! An on-site pizza delivery comes to the village once a week, a traveling butcher on another afternoon. During the summer, the locals regularly have outdoor barbecues and socials on the banks of the river that runs through Durban. These gatherings are open to all, the locals are welcoming of their English speaking visitors. A great way to join in the local culture!

Ski: The Pyrenees are less than 2 hours drive from Villa Wisteria.
