Finca Cencerrita 8 acres of secluded almond farm. The villa (2 bedrooms each with ensuite facilities) has a private mountain side pool, outside hot tub, BBQ area, shady pergolas, sun roof + incredible panoramic views. Nearby, but totally private and separate is Casita Maria: sleeps 2, own private plunge pool, BBQ, Pergola & deck. Breathtaking views. Relax and feel the quiet tranquillity of the mountains seep into your soul. Sit in the warm Spanish sunshine and just chill! A wonderful, idyllic mountain holiday retreat, perched 400m over the Guadalhorce Valley. The dramatic Sierra de las Nieves to the West; the Mediterranean Sea gleaming in the South. Cencerrita is about relaxing but if you do need to move on the odd occasion, just 25 mins are the towns of Estacion de Cartama and Álora, and less than an hour to Malaga airport and the Costa del Sol. A paradise for walking, birdwatching, photography, naturists, yoga and anyone else who wants to be far from the madding crowds.

It has to be said that your holiday at La Cencerrita is, above all else, a time for you to unwind and enjoy the tranquility we can offer you: Sitting on the terraces, soaking up the warmth of the sun, gazing at the jaw-dropping views from the sun roof, an occasional dip in the pool, sipping a chilled Sangria, nibbling on some tapas whilst sighing over the beauty of the sunset. It just doesn’t get any better. Masses of sightseeing, aerobics and discos are not what this is all about. However, we do appreciate that some of our guests need a little something to while the time away so a 25 minute drive brings you to the local towns and all their amenities and 50 minutes to the attractions of the Costa del Sol. We understand our guests’ wishes for privacy – this is one of the main reasons we created Finca Cencerrita. We are regularly assured by guests that they have never found such seclusion anywhere else.However, if you have any problems, we are not too far away to help.

Although less than an hour to Malaga City, the Airport, beaches and all the other attractions of the Costal del Sol, Finca Cencerrita is first and foremost a place for getting away from it all. Situated equidistant from the white village of Alora , Estacion de Cartama and Pizarra – a 30 min car ride – you will find all the restaurants, banks and shopping you will need. Nearby is the wonderful El Chorro with its beautiful lakes and mountains – who needs the crowded beaches of the coast when you can swim in the turquoise lakes?! Just over two hours will get you to the world renowned Alhambra Palace at Granada, and a little further to the famous city of Seville. The magical city of Ronda is just over an hour. Plenty more information on our websites. However you don’t need to get in your car to enjoy the area: just go walking and enjoy seeing the real Andalucian countryside on your holiday home doorstep.

Additional information about rental rates

  • We keep our prices as low as possible all the year round. They are not artificially inflated in order to be able to give the 'discounts' that some places offer. We give true value for money. All gas and electricity are included - even the spa.

    Evening Meal on arrival is available with prior notification (12 euros per head).

    Preferred start day is Saturday - out of season other start days may be available

    Minimum stay, one week from April through to September. October to March, 3 nights

    Departures before 10am and Arrivals after 4pm (If there is no changeover we are happy to be flexible - but we do need prior notification)
  • Booking notes: When booking, a non-refundable deposit of 25% is required, with the balance due 6 weeks before the start of your holiday. Payment can be made via PayPal (no account is needed and you can use your credit card if you wish), or direct into our bank. Full details are in the terms and conditions on our website.

    Damage Deposit: A refundable deposit of €100 is payable on arrival. This will be returned in full, assuming all is as you found it in the house. Our UK guests may prefer to deposit £100 to save using euros.

    A cleaning fee of €30 will be charged if you prefer not to clean the house on your departure (particularly useful if you have an early flight!).

    Smoking: Providing due care is taken, particularly when the countryside is tinder dry at certain times, smoking outside is not a problem. However, smoking inside the house is not permitted.

Notes: The pool is 7.7m x 3.5 and just over 1m deep everywhere - excellent for children! The bar area has a large Italian barbeque behind the huge bar top. An evening BBQ round the pool is a perfect way to spend the warm summer evenings - what better relaxing way to end the day? Well maybe it's slipping into our steamy, bubbling Hot Tub for your daily dose of calm. This not only helps relieve stress, but also aids sleep and, possibly most importantly, promotes togetherness! Watch the sunset go down, drink in hand, from the luxury of the spa Bliss! The spa seats five with various jets and water pressures. It is approximately 2m square. A screened and shady pergola is on the far side of the pool – a cool place for your afternoon siesta. The large roof terrace with stunning panoramic views is a great place to watch the stars from - or soak up some extra sunshine!

Meeting You: We meet you in Estacion de Cartama to guide you to Finca Cencerrita - we don’t want you to get lost on the first day of your holiday! This is a great relief to most ... especially when arriving in the dark!

Don't Want to Hire a Car?: One of the main reasons for the tranquillity of Finca Cencerrita is due to it being well off the beaten track (20 to 30 minutes by car from each of the villages). Not everyone wants the hassle of driving ,so we can: pick you up from the airport, stop off at a supermarket for provisioning on the way and then return you nice a relaxed after your holiday. We also run excursions - further details can be found on our website.

First Night Dinner: Cooking is often the last thing you want to do after a long day travelling so we can cook dinner (12 € each) for you on the first night if you would like - we do need a week's notice please. A menu will be sent before your holiday.

A perfect holiday

Cencerrita was everything we'd hoped for and much more - any description will fail to do it justice! We only ventured out in the car once (to stock up on food) as we couldn't bear to tear ourselves away to go anywhere else. Our week went by in a flash, probably because each day was so busy and filled with important decisions. Busy reading books, playing cards, opening bottles of wine and cans of beer, eating, dipping, hot tubbing, star (and lightning!) gazing, enjoying each other's company - the list is endless. The big decisions were around which of these activities should we indulge in next, which end of the pool should we sit, from where should we watch the sunset, what should we have for dinner, when should we have it and so on.

We had a wonderful blissful week. In your book draft you say how when you were brought to Cencerrita you just knew that this was the place you were looking for and we can see why - it has a special, enchanting quality. Your hard work and efforts have created a wonderful haven of tranquillity and comfort of which you should be very proud. Your hospitality and the attention to detail in anticipating your guests needs, such as providing extensive information and maps of the area was the icing on the cake.

We could go on indefinitely but what we've said sums it up. The only slight disappointment was the unsettled and sometimes rainy and cool weather while we were there (definitely outside your control!), though we did have lots of sunshine as well.

Thank you both so much and thank you Arwen for your friendly tail wagging visits. We can't wait to return and recommend Cencerrita to anyone wishing to get away from it all in a beautiful location and avoid the typical holiday resorts.

Second time around

All over tanned lovers! High Wycombe, Bucks

This year we hired a car. Be warned the mountain tracks are not for the faint hearted. If you do not want to drive, the lovely hosts are happy to do airport collection/drop off and shopping for a small fee which we took advantage of last year. The cabin has everything you need and more. It has a dvd player for music and evening viewing and the kitchen is the best stocked self catering one I've ever known. Outside also has everything including seating, sunbeds and bbq. The setting allows for complete privacy so nude sunbathing is an option or though plenty of suncream is advised as it does get VERY hot. Take a jumper because when there is a breeze it can get a little chilly up in the mountains. It's hard to find any negatives but I will just say the ants will invade very quickly so you do need to keep the kitchen very clean. That said the hosts have provided everything for this like sealed tubs for food, cleaning products and ant spray. Don't go here if you want night life and restaurants to walk to. There is literally nothing but wonderful veiws, wildlife and tranquility.
Owner's Response: Yesterday we were delighted to receive Jackie and Kevin's booking for the 3rd year running next August - we are very pleased we get so many returning guests, it means we must be doing something right!
Ants were certainly something of a problem but we have finally managed to find a gadget that actually WORKS to keep them away without chemicals - a big relief for all!! No doubt Jackie and Kevin will appreciate it next August ...
We also have a bit of a surprise for our returning guests: a new track has been machined to within a short distance of the finca, slightly longer but much less bumpy!

Totally Chilled

We’ve just enjoyed a real holiday! A couple of weeks ago, we decided we needed a break and were so lucky to find . Cencerrita . We can honestly say, what an absolute joy! The info, directions, were superb along with a warm welcome. Cencerrita is more than we hoped for, notwithstanding the stunning location, Alan and Colleen have thought of everything we could possibly need. As our week passed we noticed all the little touches which shows how much dedication and care has made this place special. During our stay we didn’t need to ask for anything although I’m sure if we had, nothing would have been too much trouble. For us, our evening BBQs have been wonderful, timed to watch the sunset. Cooking on holiday – brilliant! Actually having time to marinade, prepare and cook without pressure or hurry – something that doesn’t happen at home!
Having time to read a book, and another, and then another!
Never tired of sitting and looking at the scenery. Saw Imperial Eagle, swift, swallows, some unusual wild flowers and sunsets!.

Cleanliness for the Villa & cabin 5/5

Hi
I have taken frequent holidays at La cencerrita et CastiaMaria with & without my family & friends. I love this area far from the maddining crowds, in the middle of nature.
I am always impressed by the very clean house or cabin, well done to the ownres. I travel all around europe & rent flats & houses in many countrys, a shame they are often not up to the standard of CENCERRITA &CASAMARIA.
These places are very well maintened, the owners can always be contacted if needed but are otherwise very dis greet.
This is a great place to unwind & recharge the batteries but very near the airport , so a short drive. I use the TOPcar rental company,you can find details on the Cencerrita web site. Its great to not have to wait in a queue for your car, sheer bliss.
I would recommend Cencerrita & the cabin to everyone except those who must be surronded by noise , shops & restrurants,
Nature in a very beautiful hide away

cencerrita is the dream place to get away from it all & unwind, do nothing , read a book, use the pool, the jaccuzi is just super. I have been on severral occasions & just love going back. perfect place to relax , far away from the madding crowds. But less than an hour to the airport. The owners will pick you up for a small fee.if you dont want to drive.
You are still near the coast & some beautiful inlands sights if you want to get out and about, But I tend to do a big food shop on the way up over the hills. Its a beautiful area , the unsploit SPAIN. Go for it.
