Lovely villa

We rented this villa for 4 people in September & were impressed overall. A lovely welcome from the maid, Fernanda, who doesn't speak english but was very nice. The kitchen is very well equipped for self catering (we were delighted to find a paella pan!)and the dishwasher is great. The outside space is wonderful, particularly the covered veranda where we ate most nights & the great courtyard & BBQ. Another bonus was the poolside bar and fridge. The villa is well situated to walk into Carvoeiro, although you need to be fit, and there is no shortage of nice restaurants & bars. A well stocked supermarket is a five minute drive away & there are a few little mini markets & a fresh meat, fish & veg market in town.
The only downsides were the lack of use of the washing machine (I'm sure we used far more water rinsing things out by hand) and the fact that the villa across from us was being renovated. Afternoons by the pool to the sound of angle grinders & tile cutters.......
The villa is also looking a bit 'tired' in parts & the bedroom on the courtyard had a rather damp, musty smell. The amount of steps into the villa & to the pool mean that you do have to be fairly mobile to stay here.
Overall, we loved the villa and would rebook again.
Owner's Response: Seis Arcos is a very peaceful villa due to it's private location, and
this is first time in 14 years of ownership that there has been a
problem with noise. It is very unfortunate that renovation works to
the villa opposite have been allowed to drag on since the beginning of
this year (we were told it would have been completed some months ago, hence why we did not advise, but we understand they are almost finished, so peace and
quiet will return shortly.
We update the villa every year, and this winter in addition to other
works, will be completing the renovation of the bathrooms.
Also for 2010, we will be providing a washing machine for guests' use.
