The Highlands of Scotland are the finest holiday destination in the UK. Situated in the district of Lochaber close to the town of Fort William, which is the official 'Outdoor Capital of the UK', Kilcamb Cottages are strategically placed at the gateway to Ardnamurchan and some of the finest scenery in Britain. To the south are the Morvern hills and the short crossing to the lovely island of Mull; to the northwest 'The Road to the Isles' takes you to Mallaig and the ferry crossing to Skye and the Hebrides. The scenery on this road is quite breathtaking and diversions to Castle Tioram and the beaches at the Silver Sands of Morar should not be missed. Lying to the west is the Ardnamurchan peninsula and the most westerly point of the British mainland. It is a land of contrasts, from the deep mysterious glens to the soaring hills, from lush vegetation to wild desolation. Looking over the white sands of Sanna to the islands of Eigg, Rum, Muck and Skye is an unforgettable experience.

Further details for this holiday house rental in Scottish Highlands & Islands, United Kingdom

Kilcamb Cottages are among the most picturesque self-catering holiday cottages in Scotland and many of the guests are obviously so impressed that they return year after year. The cottages are real 'homes from home', set in 8 acres of landscaped and woodland grounds where red deer, roe deer, pine martens and a huge variety of birds are frequent visitors. They enjoy wonderful views south over Loch Sunart to the hills of Morvern. The cottages are situated on the edge of the charming village of Strontian with its hotels, pub, shops, post office, tourist office and lovely woodland walks. For those who enjoy eating out there is a choice of local bistros and restaurants in the village and surrounding area. The grounds include a private slipway which can be used by arrangement and guests at the cottages may borrow an inflatable dingy or Canadian canoe. They may even join us on the fishing boat to catch prawns or squat lobsters in the loch.

Other Activities: Diving, golf, horse riding, skiing, surfing, swimming.

Robingate

Thankful Guests Stirlingshire
Review Submitted: July 7, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
We thoroughly enjoyed the Robingate experience. It was lovely relaxing in such a beautiful setting with fantastic scenery all around. Robingate was clean, well maintained and very homely with plenty of space for everyone and the disabled facilities met our needs perfectly. Enjoyed preparing the meals on the AGA. The "Welcome Grocery Pack" was also a lovely touch by the owners, Linda and Alan, who are a very nice couple. It was also reassuring to have them living close by in the grounds. There are many leaflets and information on the local attractions, restaurants etc. available in the house. The village complete with shop and post office is a short walk away and there are many walks / cycle tracks available to allow you to further enjoy the scenery, the loch and the wildlife. The staff at the Strontian Hotel are very friendly and the hotel is situated in a commanding position to offer a wonderful view along Loch Sunart while you enjoy the good food available. The weather was glorious from start to finish but I'm sure it would be lovely at Robingate whatever the weather. We were so glad we were lucky enough to discover Robingate and we would recommend it to anyone. It is certainly a place you would want to experience again and again.
