Photos and Description of this Praia da Luz / Luz holiday house

The house is located close to the beach (200m) in the 'Rua da Praia' (Beach Road), a one-way-turn-off from the beach promenade. On the first floor you have two balconies, one facing east and the morning sun with a marvellous view, overlooking typically southern Portuguese houses, to the colourful rocks and the ocean and another which faces the west, overlooking colourful gardens. This balcony, being more spacious, enjoys the sunshine the whole afternoon, making eating 'al fresco' a very pleasant experience. There is also a sheltered garden patio with two sun-beds. An attractive red-tiled, marble-edged staircase leads from the hall to the first floor open-plan lounge/diner, a bright and cheerful room with the typical Portuguese terracotta floor tiles lending a cosy touch. From this room there is access to the kitchen and the upstairs bedroom. Downstairs there is a complete bathroom with bath and shower attachment as well as a very spacious bedroom with access to the garden patio

The charming holiday resort, Praia da Luz, is located approx. 6 km west of Lagos. Praia da Luz itself is a smaller village with a wonderful sandy beach which slopes gently into the sea. Between the village and the beach is an attractive palm-tree promenade with seats where you may take a rest, and enjoy the view of the beach and famous Black Rock. Along the promenade is a number of cafés, bars and restaurants while in the village there are a few small shops and supermarkets. Water sports, fishing and tennis facilities are available

  • Additional information regarding the prices:
    The quoted prices are for 4 persons per week. Any additional person is an extra € 50 per week (€ 25 during the winter months Nov.-March). Prices for 2-3 persons are on request. Bath and hand towels are changed twice a week and bed linen once a week. Cleaning before and after the visit is included in the price and electricity during the winter months (when using the central heating) will be charged additionally according to local prices.
  • Rent-a-car:
    Prices of local rent-a-car companies with all-inclusive prices can be given on demand. The rented cars can also be picked up directly at Faro airport. A rented car can also just be booked just for the first few or the last few days of your trip as an alternative.

The surrounding area:: Not far from Luz is the historic walled town of Lagos with its churches, museum and fortress. It has an attractive pedestrian area with many shops, cafés and restaurants. The long, riverside promenade extends from the historic square of Henry the Navigator, past the town centre with its old fish market and ends by the newly built marina. Meia Praia, one of the longest beaches of Europe, stretches out to the east just behind the harbour. West of Lagos you will find very picturesque rock formations such as the famous Praia Dona Ana and Ponta da Piedade. Further West you will find the traditional fishing villages, Burgau, Salema and Sagres where also Europe's south western-most point, Cabo de Sao Vicente (Cape St. Vincent) is located. Surfers will find very interesting beaches along the west coast at Carrapateira, Amado and Castelejo - all between Vila do Bispo and Aljezur. For those who prefer hiking or mountain biking, the area of Serra de Monchique has to be recommended.

Zentrale Lage in unmittelbarer Strandnähe

Ein hübsches Reihenhaus in ruhiger Lage und in drei Minuten ist man direkt am wunderbaren Strand. Das Haus ist persönlich und zweckmäßig eingerichtet. Es ist ein idealer Ausgangsort für Ausflüge in die nähere Umgebung.

Prima Haus in optimaler Lage

Die Lage des Feriendomozils ist in vielerlei Hinsicht unübertrefflich. In ca. 1 Minute ist der sehr saubere Strand erreicht, an dem unter anderem viele Wassersportmöglichkeiten angeboten werden.
Restaurants und Geschäfte (ein guter Bäcker, verschiedene Lebensmittelläden und Souveniergeschäfte) sind in unmittelbarer Nähe fussläufig zu erreichen.
Da wir mit dem Auto angereist sind, bot Luz einen optimalen Ausgangspunkt für viele und interessante Ausflüge (das Hinterland der Algarve und die Küste selbst bieten viele Höhepunkte).
Die Haus selbst liegt an einer kleinen Straße zum Strand, die von Kraftfahrzeugen wenig frequentiert ist. Die Ausstattung des Hauses ist einfach, genügte aber vollkommen unseren Ansprüchen. Die Küche ist sehr gut ausgestattet, die zwei Balkone und der kleine Garten sind die Highlites (Sonne oder Schatten, wie es einem gefällt).
Positiv erwähnenswert ist das kleine Touristenbüro im Nebeneingang, das von Frau J. geführt wird. Frau J. konnte uns viele nützliche Tipps für unsere Urlaubsgestaltung geben und ist sehr liebenswerte Person.
Wir können dieses Domizil uneingeschränkt weiter empfehlen.
Die Restaurants in der näheren Umgebung sind sehr vielfältig und bieten allesamt ordentliches Essen zum annehmbaren Preis. Empfehlen können wir die Strandbar, die ein köstliches Essen anbietet (zum Abendessen unbedingt Tisch auf der Terrasse reservieren).
Das Klima an der Allgarve ist sehr reizarm und wegen der leichten Nordwinde nie unangenehm heiß.
Tipps für Angler: Gleich am Ende der Strandpromenade ist ein kleines Felsplateau (fußläufig 5 min. vom Haus) von wo sich prima Angeln lässt. Beste Angelzeit morgens ab 5.30 bis 10.30 Uhr, sehr schöner Sonnenaufgang und herrliche Ruhe. Habe viele Hornhechte und Wolfsbarsche fangen können (Köder Tintenfisch tiefgefroren aus dem Supermarkt).
Wir (meine Frau und zwei Jungs, 14 und 10 Jahre), haben einen sehr abwechslungs- und erlebnisreichen Sommerurlaub in Luz verbracht.

Einfach, aber charmant

Die Lage des Hauses ist unübertrefflich! Man ist in einer Minute am Strand ( der übrigens sehr sauber ist ) und mehrere nette Sackbars und Restaurants sind in max. 5 Minuten zu erreichen. Ein Supermarkt ist gleich schräg gegenüber.

Das Haus selber liegt in einer ruhigen Gasse und besticht durch seine 2 Terrassen ( ost- und westseitig ). Die Einrichtung ist nicht die Modernste, aber das Haus im Gesamten ist einfach charmant.

Also - wenn Sie nicht 4 oder 5 Sterne als Minimumanforderung stellen, sind Sie hier gut aufgehoben!

Ideale Unterkunft

Die Lage: nur 1 Minute vom Strand (und den Cafes und Restaurants) entfernt (trotzdem kann man mit dem Auto zum Haus zufahren). Alles was man normalerweise braucht, ist in unmittelbarer Nähe (Supermarkt, Restaurants, Cafes, Post, ...). Der Blick vom (Ost-)Balkon aufs Meer ist herrlich. Verkehrslärm hält sich in Grenzen, weil durch die Rua da Praia nicht viele Autos fahren (eher manchmal ein Moped).

Das Haus: ein herrlich kühles und ruhiges Schlafzimmer + Bad/WC im Erdgeschoß, mit Ausgang in einen kleinen gepflasterten Garten, wo man im Schatten einiger junger Bäume und Sträucher friedliche Stunden verbringen kann. Im Obergeschoß ein großes Wohnzimmer mit Eßtisch und Sitzecke, eine Küche und ein (Kinder-)Schlafzimmer mit 2 Betten. Je ein Balkon im Osten und Westen ermöglichen, daß man zu jeder Tageszeit je nach Laune Sonne oder Schatten genießen kann.
Im Erdgeschoß ist ein kleines Touristenbüro (mit eingeschränkten Öffnungszeiten) eingerichtet (separater Eingang).

Die Ausstattung: Alles was man in einem Urlaubsquartier erwartet, ist vorhanden (der Fernseher könnte etwas größer sein, sagen die Kinder). Das Haus ist recht charmant eingerichtet.

Was mir am besten gefallen hat:
1. die Strandnähe: einfach mal schnell runter und schwimmen, ohne viel Zeug einpacken zu müssen (auch für Kinder sehr praktisch: die Straße zum Strand und die Strandpromenade sind Fußgängerzonen).
