House Leo I is a beautiful traditional Istrian stone house which comfortably sleeps 6 people in 3 well-furnished double bedrooms. It is situated in the village of Brtonigla, a friendly hill-top Istrian village offering outstanding views over the bay of Trieste. The accommodation in House Leo I is arranged over 3 floors. The fully equipped open-plan kitchen and dining room are on the first floor as is the comfortable lounge and a shower-room. On the second floor there are 2 double bedrooms, one with doors opening to a balcony perfect for enjoying the spectacular view of the sunset over the sea, and a further shower-room. The third floor has the master bedroom with wonderful original restored wooden beamed ceiling and ensuite shower room. All rooms are fully air conditioned. Outside there is a small paved terrace at the rear of the house. Parking is available in the village square just to the front of the house. (House Leo II available on ground floor)

House Leo is situated in the village of Brtonigla. Brtonigla has a distinctive Italian feel due to its history and proximity to the Slovenian and Italian borders, indeed most local inhabitants can be heard conversing in Italian. There are many wonderful restaurants just a short walk from the house offering delicious local food and wine. Brtonigla is in the centre of the wine producing region of Istria so there is ample choice of great, affordable local wines on offer. Brtonigla has all the necessary amenities within walking distance of House Leo including 2 local supermarkets, tourist office,post office, bank, butchers, bars, “konobas” (local restaurants), a bakery for delicious fresh breakfasts and even a hairdressers. For beach lovers the beautiful unspoilt beach at Karigador is just 5km away. For those looking for more entertainment the Lanterna beach resort with water sports, childrens play areas, mini golf, spa facilities, etc is located cca 10km from Brtonigla.

  • Preferred changeover day is Saturday, but out of season this can be flexible.
    We would kindly ask guests to arrive at 2pm at the earliest on day of arrival and to depart by 10am on the final day to allow time for cleaning of the property.
    A non-refundable deposit of 30% is required at the time of booking.
    Bank details for payment transfers will be provided. Unfortunately we do not have facilities for credit card payments but paypal may be acceptable.
    The balance of the rental payment must be paid not less than 6 weeks prior to arrival.
    Please note rental rates are subject to change. Special offers may be available. Rental charge is fixed at rate quoted at time of reservation.
    A security deposit of £200 is required at the time of booking to be held against any damage caused to the property or its contents.
    We would recommend that you arrange your own cancellation insurance.
    Rental rates are exclusive of Croatian tourist tax of c.€1 per person per day.

We booked the larger LEO-1 3 Bedroom house for 7 nights.

//The House//

The house is fully loaded with contemporary furnishing, very clean and comfortable. We never felt that the house lacked in terms of catering for our needs. Fully air conditioned throughout. Beds are great, tonnes of fresh linen and the shower rooms are immaculate and clean.

//Neighbourhood//

House Leo is in the middle of a medium sized village. The locals were friendly and accomodating. There's an info point within 2 minutes walk, a couple of mini markets, a bank and a post office.

//Location//

Right in the middle of the wine region, there was plenty to see, eat and drink. We purchased locally made wine from one of the many home based shops and this was our most plesant part of the journey.

The house is 10 minutes drive into Umag, and the same info Novigrad (some nice beaches here). We made it to Pula in 45 minutes as well. Location was superb in our opinion.

In summmary, we felt that the communication from the owners was exceptional and we felt safe.

We had a fantastic holiday staying at House Leo this summer.The house is extremely well finished with full aircon throughout which is a must. The house has a dishwasher and washing machine to help out. The village itself is quite charming with at least 3 excellent restauraunts to eat in.The house provides a good base to see other locations in Croatia and Venice is also in easy reach for a day trip by car. Lovely view from the balcony at night time for a relaxing glass of wine watching the sun set.
You need a car to use the house as a base.Would definetly recommend this aphouse to friends. The owners provided excellent customer service recommending restaurants and providing directions to the house.

Ten days of relax in Croatia

We founded this opportunity on web and in fews days we decided to leave for our first holiday in Istria. We were looking forward to reaching the place because after reading the accurate description and seen the wonderful pictures of the house we fell in love with the place!We hadn't any difficulties to rejoin Brtonigla, and for any problems in Istria almost everybody speeks italy and people are very friendly! At our arriving the owner were hospitable and gave us every kind of information about the house, the city, the place where we could found supermarket or others usefull place and also showed us the most turistics location. In the house we found really everythink, also a big tv, the napkins and the soap in the bathrooms. there were a washingmachine and the air condition too. it is not necessary to say that the house was very cleaned and really confortable! So the only thing that remains to do was relax completely ourself and start to visit the place! During our stay the owner were available but we didn't find any problems! Aboveall Brtonigla is a very pacefull place but during our holiday we had the opportunity to assist a some folk festivals. We enjoyed very much this holiday and we liked a lot the wild nature, the unpolluted beach and the sea, every day so calm! When we came back we recommended this property to our parents and friends!

Very clean property with a good location. Air conditioning was much appreciated as was the contact with the owners. Kitchen could use more utensils as we like to cook, but we got by. Brtonigla is well situated for an exploration of Istria-make sure you try the Astoria Konoba!

House Leo superb

My baby son, wife and I stayed in House Leo in June 2008 and really enjoyed our time exploring Istria. We found the village of Brtonigla an excellent base for exploring everything that the area has to offer. We also had many a relaxing night out in Brtonigla as well, as the village has lots to offer in terms of restaurants and bars. Very hard to pick a favourite but it would be between the pizzeria on the square or Asteria at the bottom of the hill.

As for the house itself it had everything that you would ever need with 3 large double bedrooms (one with a lovely balcony with views over to the coast), open plan lounge and kitchen and three bathrooms.

Brtonigla is well located for exploring the surrounding towns and villages such as Novigad (10 mins), Porec (25 mins), Rovinj (45 mins) and Motovon (30mins).

We would recommend this house for those looking for an excellent base in which to explore Istria and also sample the many restaurants in Brtonigla.
