House Leo is situated in the village of Brtonigla. Brtonigla has a distinctive Italian feel due to its history and proximity to the Slovenian and Italian borders, indeed most local inhabitants can be heard conversing in Italian. There are many wonderful restaurants just a short walk from the house offering delicious local food and wine. Brtonigla is in the centre of the wine producing region of Istria so there is ample choice of great, affordable local wines on offer. Brtonigla has all the necessary amenities within walking distance of House Leo including 2 local supermarkets, tourist office,post office, bank, butchers, bars, “konobas” (local restaurants), a bakery for delicious fresh breakfasts and even a hairdressers. For beach lovers the beautiful unspoilt beach at Karigador is just 5km away. For those looking for more entertainment the Lanterna beach resort with water sports, childrens play areas, mini golf, spa facilities, etc is located cca 10km from Brtonigla.

  • Preferred changeover day is Saturday, but out of season this can be flexible.
    We would kindly ask guests to arrive at 2pm at the earliest on day of arrival and to depart by 10am on the final day to allow time for cleaning of the property.
    A non-refundable deposit of 30% is required at the time of booking.
    Rates are exclusive of tourist tax which is charged at c.€1 per person per day.
    Bank details for payment transfers will be provided. Unfortunately we do not have facilities for credit card payments but paypal may be acceptable.
    The balance of the rental payment must be paid not less than 6 weeks prior to arrival.
    Please note rental rates are subject to change. Special offers may be available. Rental charge is fixed at rate quoted at time of reservation.
    A security deposit of £200 is required at the time of booking to be held against any damage caused to the property or its contents.
    We would recommend that you arrange your own cancellation insurance.

Full directions will be provided at time of booking. Airport transfers can be provided in a comfortable 7 seater vehicle at an additional charge. Please enquire for further details.

Village amenities...: Location of the San Rocco Festival celebrated on Aug 16th -one of the largest festivals in Istria. Several superb restaurants within easy walking distance. Situated in the heart of wine-making region. Childrens' playpark in village. Beautiful beaches only c.6km away. Tourist information, bank, post office, bars, pizzeria, restaurants and local supermarkets in village.

House Leo II was a delightful property, within a delightful village. It was centrally located - perfect for walking to restaurants, mini markets, bank etc. It was ideal for 2 people. The facilities were pretty basic (a frying pan would have been handy as would a full length mirror) but spotlessly clean. In particular the Astarea Restaurant is definitely worth a visit and Santic restaurant in the square served very good food. Mini supermarkets stocked only very basic supplies but larger supermarkets weren't too far away.
All beaches visited were superb, but beware of traffic build up going in (especially) and also out of Croatia if you have to go through border control (this was in August with a Trieste arrival/departure on a Saturday).
We would recommend this accommodation to friends.

House Leo - we loved it!

We stayed in House Leo II in July 2009 and we enjoyed every single day there. Situated in the small village of Brtonigla it provides both calmness and a good offer of restaurants (well-known in the region), bars and shops (supermarket, bakery, butcher's).
We found everything as in the discription: 2 rooms big enough for the two of us, a nice kitchen, a small but well-organized bathroom, good solid furniture - everything was clean and well-maintained. The appartment is in the basement of an old stone house and the old walls are beautifully restored. There is a small space in front of the kitchen with a table and chairs. We used to have our breakfast there and our last glass of wine under a dark and fully starred heaven.
The owners gave us a warm welcome and solved whatever a problem we had - a so did the people in the village.
There are lots of things to do around Brtonigla - most Istrian towns and villages can be reached easily. So you can decide wether to spend your day in one of the old villages in the hills of inner Istria or at the beach.
We would recommend Leo II to those who want to find a quiet place to relax, visit ancient places, enjoy the mild water of the Mediterranean and the delicous food and vines of the region.
We sure will come back!
