Les Chardons is situated on the border between Charente & Dordogne in an area known as 'Happy Valley'. The restored 17C farmhouse sits in its own land of 3 acres and is on the edge of a tiny hamlet called Barbenègre (Blackbeard!). It is very private with wonderful uninterrupted views across the Dronne valley. The house is surrounded by gardens with a lovely secure swimming pool 12m x 6m. We are close to the famous wine region of St. Emilion & 1 hour from Bordeaux, Bergerac and the coast. In tranquil surroundings, there are many things to keep you and the kids occupied including canoeing & local beach bars and water parks. The area is famous for Fois-Gras and Pineau and you can buy delicious bread and other supplies from the local farms. There are good shops nearby in the towns of Chalais and St Aulaye. The world famous Friday market in Riberac is only 20 mins and Aubeterre with its beautiful square, 10 mins. A wonderful place for a family holiday offering privacy and togetherness.

Situated in the beautiful Perigord Vert region of Dordogne within easy driving of the Atlantic coast and deeper into Dordogne. Surrounded by the vineyards of Bordeaux and Bergerac and deep in the forest of The Dronne Double. The house is situated in the valley of The Dronne river and has lovely views over the farmland down to the river. There are many historical towns in the area such as Riberac, Aubeterre, St. Privat, Brantome, Bourdeilles and many others, all offering something different for the holidaymaker. The area is of gently rolling hills and farms where you can sample and buy local produce. The nearby towns of Chalais and St. Aulaye have all facilities, shops, entertainment etc and there is a local lake with swimming and restaurants. Bordeaux is a must see city where you can leave your car and take the new trams into town to explore - some great shopping.
