Relaxing in Paradise:
A beach vacation on Sanibel creates wonderful memories for a lifetime. Families come back over and over again. We get phone calls from adults who had come to Sanibel as a child and now want to bring their children to create new family memories. Sometimes couples were married on Sanibel and want to come back for a special anniversary. Our Pointe Santo, B-1 condo has everything you need for a relaxing vacation.
I like to cook, so the kitchen is very well stocked with all the necessary pots and pans, high quality knives, kitchen gadgets and lovely blue and white china to make delightful meals. There is a large grocery store just up the road from us where you can buy whatever you need to cook, as well as fully prepared food. There are wonderful stainless steel gas grills positioned throughout the grounds, some just a few steps from our screen porch, where you can grill great meals and have no mess to clean up.
The condo has a wide variety of games, books, movies on DVD and puzzle
Activities on Sanibel:
Everywhere on Sanibel is a emphasis on the natural environment. The Ding Darling Wildlife Preserve is full of birds and animals such as alligators, and is a very short distance from our condo, perhaps a 10 minute car ride or a 15 minute bike ride. There are naturalist programs that take you on guided walks, tram rides or even canoe rides to show you the abundance of wildlife and birds on Sanibel. In our condo, we have purchased field guide books on both birds and shelling so you will be better informed.
Just up the road from us is a conservation area where you can rent kayaks or canoes to explore by yourself or with a guide. There is also a large boat that goes out 3 times a day with guided tours of the area. Captiva Cruises does dolphin cruises where you can see many, many dolphins while taking a lovely boat ride and learning about the environment. At the marina, you can charter a fishing boat to go out deep sea fishing.
Shelling and other activities:
Everywhere on Sanibel, people are walking the beaches and collecting beautiful shells. There is a wonderful shell museum on the island. After you have collected your shells, Pointe Santo has a washing station and a large display of shells with their names so you can identify what you have found.
Many people come to Sanibel, park their car, rent bikes for the week and go everywhere on Sanibel by bike. There are 26 miles of bike paths winding all throughout Sanibel. The island abounds with fun shops of high quality goods, as well as local church thrift stores and antique shops full of great finds. Local restaurants are both formal and informal with great food and surprisingly good value. We have a guest book in our condo where guests write what have been their favorite restaurants and activities, to help you make some good choices.
There is also a local movie theater nearby, as well as local arts fests and music programs, but you might be too busy relaxing to care!
