Luxury 1st floor apartment of 880 sq.ft. in renovated 18th c. Merchants House on pedestrian lane off Plaza San Juan de Dios, the oldest square in Cadiz (pictured). Comprising 2 spacious double bedrooms, one with balcony, 2 bathrooms, large lounge and extensive fully fitted kitchen/dining room. Train station 3 min walk, bus station 5 min, city buses 1 min. Nearest shops 1 min. Restaurants and tapas/wine bars abound. Only 3 min walk to the Cathedral, 4 min to Roman Theatre, 4 min to the flower market and food market, 6 min to Calle Ancha the start of the boutique shopping area. The sea and promenade 3 min walk and white sand beaches 8 min. The medieval Barrio Populo 2 min and Barrio La Viña and its many traditional fish restaurants only 10 min. Underground 24hr parking (9.80 euros/24 hours) and taxi rank all at 1 min walk. The port of Cadiz and Ferry terminal for the Canary Islands is 2 minutes. Cities of Jerez and Seville are easily accessible 20 min and 1 hour respectively.

Ideally placed for sightseeing tours of Cadiz, visit the Cathedral, The Castle (Caleta) , Roman Theatre Ruins, The famous Torres de Cadiz, numerous Churches and Squares or just soak up the vibrant atmosphere of the oldest City in Europe. Enjoy the Spanish Grand Prix at Jerez (30 min by car) or watch a practice day for only 3 euros. Trips to Morocco by Ferry. The famous Royal Jerez Horse Academy or Sherry bodegas (tours available) - 30 min by car or train. Visit the Flamenco clubs in Cadiz and sample the local 'fino'(sherry). Enjoy the wonderful tapas bars and fish restaurants of Cadiz and Puerto de Santa Maria. A beautiful apartment for holidays in Cadiz

We have stayed in this apartment 6 holidays. I like the location as it is near the train and bus station. We get the train from Madrid and then walk from the station to the apartment. The apartment is always clean and the owners are very kind and helpful. It is a very large apartment and everything is new and modern. There is never anything broken. The apartment is in very quiet area but at the end of the small street is the main square so we only have to walk a short distance to sit out in the sun or take a coffee in the bars. At night we like to go for a walk in the city then to the local restaurants which are all very good. Some are small family restaurant and some big with seats to sit outside which we like. We have come to Cadiz in Winter, Spring and Summer and it is always beautiful and the weather good. Even in winter it is warm there.

We are Spanish so we like the beach. Sometimes we go to the local beach but we like also the beach at Cortadura and take the city train to this beach. It is only a few minutes on the train. I like shopping and history and my husband like history and culture. The owners know Cadiz like experts so always we take their advice for new things to see in the city.

The owners always come to meet us and we think they are part of our family now. I recommend you go to Cadiz and stay at this apartment. Have a happy holiday in Cadiz.

the apartment was clean and everything worked well. the only improvement i could recommend would be some written info about any trouble shooting that may be occasionally necessary eg. lighting the replacement gas heater following a change of calor gas cylinder was easy once it was explained but this had required a phone call to sort out -clearly a waste of everyones time.
Owner's Response: I am very disappointed to read your review as you have stayed with us on two occasions, been nothing but complimentary regarding the accommodation and did not mention that this was a problem until this review. The majority of properties in Cadiz use gas cylinders. I am sure you are aware of this as your daughter lives in the city. It is very difficult to monitor exactly how much gas is in them but we do our best to ensure that the gas does not run out during a clients stay. However, on the rare occasion and it is rare – around once a year - that this happens the heater does require to be relit, using the light button. Our water heater is serviced annually to ensure that it works perfectly and maintains a high safety standard. Unfortunately, until mains gas is available to us we have no alternative but to use cylinders. As you know there is a letter of welcome in the house giving our contact numbers and telling all guests that we are available 24 hours a day to assit them. We are happy to come up to the apartment to relight the water heater and had you asked this would not have been a problem. We talked you through the process on the telephone and the heater was relit in a very short space of time. I am sorry that you found having to call us ”a complete waste of everyone´s time” we never consider a clients request a waste of time and are happy to help with anything they require while staying with us.

This was an absolutely fantastic place to stay, even better than the description had implied and certainly somewhere I would stay again if we re-visited the area. The place was REALLY clean and well-equipped with everything working and in good nick.
The owners were really helpful with a lot of stuff, and even took it upon themselves to do some extra research for us regarding ferries etc. They were easy to contact and always responded to queries promptly. They even picked us up from the airport (for less than a cab) and showed us into the property which meant we didn't have to get lost looking for it!
we really enjoyed Cadiz although it seemed hard work at the beginning to get bearings and not get get massively ripped off with food and drink. DON'T eat/drink anything on one of the main squares - poor quality and overpriced, but the 'out-of-the-way' places were brilliant for value and quality. Make sure you go for a walk on the sand-dunes - they're amazing. Also, remember that everything (and I mean everything) shuts for the afternoon siesta, so don't bother trying to find museums / shops to visit!
Tourist office was great and very helpful as we don't (to our shame) speak Spanish, but plenty of guides in English. It's also worth taking the lovely train ride out to Jerez and having a wander.
Overall, although we had a great time, we probably wouldn't go back to Cadiz, but the accommodation and the owners were faultless so I would highly recommend staying at the apartment if you're visiting.
