This beautiful 19th century château is situated in the pretty village of Saint-Fort just 25 minutes from blue-flag sandy beaches. The village is surrounded by vineyards and the views from the roof terrace are amazing, especially at night when the Romanesque church is illuminated. The village has a bar, bakers and general store, plus a twice-weekly market in the village square. The south-facing walled garden has: heated pool, hot tub, boules pitch, table tennis table, BBQ, outdoor table/chairs, plenty of place to sit in the sun or shade. Inside there is: kitchen, dining room, 2 living rooms (satellite TV, DVD player (selection of DVDs), CD/ipod player, bar billiard table), a library and a play station room with lots of games for children. In the cellar: table tennis table, table football plus laundry room. First floor: 3 king-sized bedrooms, 2 twins plus 3 bathrooms. Second floor: one quadruple room with TV/video, 2 king-sized, 2 twins, 2 bathrooms. Tennis courts 2 mins.

Saint Fort is surrounded by vineyards - great for walking, cycling and birdwatching. Nearby are the historic towns of Saintes, Pons and Cognac. Slightly further afield (1 - 1.5 hours) are La Rochelle, St Emilion, Bordeaux and the Ile de Re. There is a huge choice of sandy beaches from the small safe coves at Meschers, northwards to the long stretches of fine sand at Saint Georges and Royan, and then further on to St Palais and the beaches of the Cote Sauvage. Lots for children - fantastic zoo at La Palmyre, go-karting, sailing and other water sports. Great local markets and over 15 Michelin recommended restaurants within 20 miles. The village has a sports field and tennis courts, bakers, bar, chemist, general store and supermarket.
