A recently refurbished villa with stone trullo set in the heart of the Itria Valley, close to the white hill towns of Cisternino. Martina Franca, Locorotondo and Ostuni are all a short drive away with the nearest beaches around a 15 minute drive. The house has been finished to a very high standard with paved outdoor and covered outdoor eating spaces, brand new kitchen/diner and new bathrooms. Entrance to the house is by gated driveway with space for parking.

The area offers a fantastic combination of good food, beautiful countryside, crystal clear water and white sandy beaches in a region unspoiled by the ravages of package tourism. Puglia is renowned for its fine produce including the majority of the tomatoes and pasta consumed in Italy and excellent local wines. Cisternino is 5 minutes away by car where you can find good cafes and restaurants. Nearest beaches are 15 minutes away, with Torre Canne and Bosco Verde offering fine sandy beaches. The famous white towns of Ostuni, Martina Franca and Locorotondo are all within a 20 minute drive, offering a great combination of restaurants, cafes and historical interest. Alberobello - capital of the trulli - is about 30 minutes away. The nearest supermarket is about 3km and a shop and bike rental can be found at the end of the road. Good walking from either direction from the house. Restaurants and attraction details provided at booking. Private yoga and Italian lessons can be arranged.

Puglia is known as The Garden of Italy producing vast amounts of olive oil, wine, cheese, pasta, fruit and vegetables. It is also home to many handicrafts and distinctive ceramic wares. Being situated between the Ionian and Adriatic seas you cannot miss out on sampling the wide variety of fish available as well as a wide range of white sandy beaches with crystal clear water.

We stayed at the above for a week in August and it was the ideal base for sightseeing in the area, lots of interesting places to visit. The nearby town of Cisternino provided us with plenty eating experiences and lots to look at, quite lively at night. It is out of the way which we liked, not much traffic passing by so minimum noise. The area has lots of similar houses, built around the trulli so landscape is really unusual and interesting. We found it a fair drive to get to the beaches which are typically Italian. We bought our own umbrella as it can be quite expensive to hire sun-loungers on the beach and you do need some shade.
The property is spacious and equipped with most holidaymakers' needs. The obvious omission was sun-loungers. We had to heave an ordinary bed in and out of the house in order (for one of us) to have a lie in the sun, something I really want to do when I'm on holiday! Also, considering we arrived at mid-day on Sunday I was surprised at having to empty the dishwasher, send for a plumber to fix the toilet seats on and go out shopping straight away as the only thing in the fridge was a bottle of fizzy water - couldn't make a cup of tea with that! There was no service but there were clean towels left, spare pillows etc and the use of a washing machine. There were also alot of toiletries, cleaning materials that we were invited to use and replace, unfortunately only one dishwasher tablet meant we had to wash up so couldn't take advantage of the appliance.
All this didn't spoil our holiday as we wanted somewhere quiet to relax and we did achieve this once we'd fielded the requests from estate agents to show the property to prospective buyers. We've rented properties many times in Europe - this one didn't really strike us as being set up too seriously for holidaymakers.
