A lovely house in a beautiful village

Review Submitted: November 2, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
Loon Bennett is a wonderful house to stay in. It is very spacious, beautifully decorated and ideally situated in the village of Mousehole, two minutes from the harbour. It also has a great garden at the front where you can sit and watch the world go by. We all had a fantastic holiday, including our teenager who had the netloft bedroom with it's own stairs which she loved. The property was very clean and well maintained and the housekeeper was also welcoming and friendly. The garage however, is really only suitable for small cars and this is could be a problem in high season as parking is really limited in the village. Also, the living rooms could have done with better lighting to read by. There are two excellent restaurants in the village, the Cornish Range and 2 Fore Street which is two minutes away. Overall though, a great place to stay.
Owner's Response: Re parking....once unloaded many guests choose to park in the public car park next to the Coastguard Hotel. It's only 5 minutes walk from Loon Bennett, and at the entrance to the village - so avoids negotiating Mousehole's narrow streets and other holiday traffic!

The best cottage in Mousehole

A wonderful, very well equipped cottage in the heart of the village.

We comfortably had 7 people in Loon Bennett for a week including three teenage boys and the house worked incredibly well for us.

I would have no hesitation in booking this property again. The restuarants and village pub are within two minutes walk of Loon Bennett as is the harbour and beach.

all in all a superb cottage.

What a fantastic property in a lovely little village which is largely unspoilt by tourism. It must have its own microclimate as everywhere else had rain. There is so much to see and do but little time to accomplish all. Great for the little ones. Reccomend Sennon Cove for children or Corbis bay(St Ives) with great beaches. Fresh local fish for the BBQ a must. The property was great for 8 people, spacious enough so no-one gets under any feet. Rooms were beautiful. A must for anyone visiting the area. Highly reccomended. Will definately re-visit.

We stayed at this beautiful cottage in June with some friends and 3 small children. We had a great week, the village of Mousehole is postcard pretty and everything is a very short walk away including a small beach.
We found the cottage extremely well equipped and comfortable and beautifully furnished, it was a pleasure to spend time in it as well as in the courtyard garden to the front. There is a small playground nearby for the kids as well as the beach and an ice cream shop practically across the road.

We had several barbecues with fabulous fresh fish from Newlyn just down the road, and wonderful meat from Vivian Olds in St Just (worth the hunt, it's tucked away). For littleys we would also recommend Paradise Park and the beach at Corbyn Bay. 4

The housekeeper Maggie is very friendly and efficient and babysat one evening for us so that we could go to 2 Fore Street, the restaurant at the end of the road - this too was absolutely lovely; fresh, comtemporary cuisine and we were lucky enough to get one of the tables in the window overlooking the harbour.
We found the owner very prompt and efficient in all communication.

We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property and hope to return to it next year.
