Fabulous holiday. The perfect place to stay for a cultural holiday in the province of Andalusia Spain. The accommodation was excellent with every home comfort that you could desire: - very spacious, modern furnishings, very comfortable beds. The patio just off the kitchen area is fully furnished for al fresco dining, complete with a parasol; all this makes for enjoyable meals to be had in comfort. In fact the property cannot be faulted. There is a swimming pool just over the way, small but very clean and perfect for a dip and swim and it is surrounded by a grassed area for sunbathing but being very close and with our own roof top patio for sunbathing this was not needed. Situated in the perfect setting on the edge of the town of Lebrija overlooking the countryside, the views from the roof top patio were spectacular. The centre of Lebrija is approx a 10-minute slow stroll and the nearest supermarket is a 5-minute stroll. The supermarket is stocked to perfection, the fresh fish counter was out of this world with every fish you could wish for and the fresh bread was delicious. Also in the centre of Lebrija is the most picturesque indoor market with fresh vegetable and meats and fish etc, etc, we had loads of fun with the stall holders who could not do enough for us, we even received free herbs for our menus, very enjoyable experience. Shops and restaurants in Lebrija were very good and the prices were not the usual tourist price, in fact the cost of eating out was good value for money, the tapas selection being our favourite was even cheaper.
The countryside around Lebrija is very flat as is this part of the province of Andalusia with good roads for driving and all places are easily accessible. The beaches of the province were excellent, white sands very wide and lovely clean seas, we did swim in the sea even though it was May, cold to get into but very nice once in. The beach at Chipiona is approx 30 mins by car and is excellent.
We did a lot of travelling by rail, the service was first class the trains were modern and very clean and punctual, there is a rail station in Lebrija not far from the accommodation. We went by train to both Cadiz and Seville and found the experience very enjoyable. Both Cities are not to be missed, a cultural delight, you could easily spend a few days in Seville,so much to see and do.The spectacular cathedral of Seville took our breath away. This holiday was one of our best. Highly recommended.A spanish phrase book would help.
