The coastline is as rugged as it is beautiful dotted with magnificent cliffs, tiny cove and picturesque harbours. It was once the haunt of smugglers, pirates and wreckers and the fascinating history is retold in many small museums along the coast. Today visitors who love Henry Williamson's famous Tarka the Otter can retrace Tarka's journey by following the Tarka Trail. West Down village is the perfect place for a relaxing holiday. The small friendly village has a well-stocked Village Store, selling locally produced organic food. The local pub, The Crown Inn, serves Camra Real Ales and good family pub food.
