Winter season:
Ski Amade is our ski area, the largest ski area in Austria. We have easy access to the Alpendorf Ski school and slopes, just a couple of hundred meters from the apartment. Alpendorf also has some of the best aprés ski huts in the area, as well as a fantastic tabbogan run that starts half way up the mountain and winds its way through the forest back to the village on a specially designated course.
Cross country skiing and horse drawn sleigh rides are also popular, as well as many other winter events and festivals.
The Salzburg Christmas markets in early - mid December are stunning, New year fireworks from our balcony, looking down the valley to St Johann are amazing. January and February snow is wonderful and exceptionally well maintained, and what better way to spend March than morning skiing and hot chocolate stops, then afternoon sunbathing in a deck chair at 2000m topping up your afternoon snow tan. Summer season:
Summer has so much to offer, from mountain sports activities, and golf, to thermal spas and swimming in the lakes. Mozart's home town of Salzburg is close by, or you can just relax on our balcony and enjoy the views and mountain air.
Walking is very popular with well marked trails and routes, and many ski lifts operate in summer as well, to effortlessly glide you up the mountain.
It's a mountain biking paradise, with specific cross country trails and single track routes, bike parks and lift assisted downhill.
We are also surrounded by fresh water lakes, lovely for swimming in clear fresh water and for topping up suntans and relaxing.
All summer activities are well organized and huge discounts are available using the Salzburgerland summer card. A summer specific card that allows you free entry to hundreds of events, places and attractions. Please ask us for more details.
With ice caves, famous castles and museums, world heritage sites, there is so much to see and do.
Young families:
With the opening of Ghost mountain this summer, we are in the perfect location for your child entertainment service!
Wander down to the ski lift and you are whisked up to the top of the mountain where there is a new play and activity centre on the mountain peak, with stunning views all around.
Ski:
We are lucky enough to be situated in the centre of the Ski Amade ski area, the largest ski region in Austria, which offers 860 km of skiing and 245 lifts, all under one ski pass, the closest of which starts just 200m from the apartment.
Alpendorf is a huge ski area, interlinking to Wagrain, on to the world cup resorts of Flachau and Zauchensee. We have skiing for all abilities from steady blue runs, intermediate reds, to expert black runs and wonderful off piste ski route areas. Alpendorf is also a Snow boarding paradise, with comfy heated chair lifts and high speed gondolas for maximum boarding time and minimum effort. With ski school for beginners, and snow parks for the more radical, we have an amazing area to explore.
Transfer time from Salzburg airport is one of the shortest in Europe at only 40 minutes, so with a morning flight arrival, you are on the slopes by lunch time. If you take an evening flight home, you can easily get a full day on the slopes before you go.
