The Isle Of Wight, situated just off the South Coast of England, is one of Britain's finest holiday destinations. Made popular by Queen Victoria who had her maritime residence at Osbourne House. The Island is famous for sailing in the Solent; The Needles, for Cowes Week; for the Round the Island Race, for its beautiful coastline including many many miles of clean sandy beaches. It enjoys spectacular countryside and the longest hours of sunshine in England. The area is famous for its fossils and children and adults can score the beaches and be almost guaranteed to find fossils from the Jurassic age - as long as they can recognise them. With 350 ferry crossings a day and routes that link directly with rail, coach and road it couldn’t be easier to get to, take your own car across to the Island or catch the swift passenger ferry and make use of the Isle of Wight’s excellent transport system that has been specifically designed with the holidaymaker in mind.

The best view ever

We stayed in September and thoughly enjoyed ourselves. Weather was fantastic which helped. The lounge/dining/kitchen is huge and very well equipped with the most incredible views. Liked the fact that we could arrive at any time. The property is huge. The location wonderful and the standard of the furniture and fittings excellent.
I would recommend this holiday home to anyone.

Problems from Day 1....was double booked, property not as described, boiler a major problem. Previous occupants had no heating or water for their stay and although "fixed" we had to ventilate the property by opening all the windows to avoid being overcome with fumes. There were too many issues to mention.......don't stay here. If you do ensure you get real contact details of the owner.

Quiet but not so comfy

We chose this cottage mainly for its location and price. It is in a wonderful location, middle of nowhere, and incredibly quiet and relaxing. wonderful views of the hills and farms and not much traffic passing. You wouldnt beleive how close you are to the town of Newport!

It suited the 3 of us (two adults and 1 child) but it would really be a squeeze for any more. The main bedroom is large and has a wonderfully big wardrobe, but thats the only one. There are no other wardrobes or chests of drawers anywhere in the cottage. My stepdaughter had to live out of her suitcase.

The living room is quite small, and only has two small two seater sofas, one of which is the sofa bed, which was incredibly uncomfortable to sleep on, and would definitely not be able to sleep two people comfortably at all. It hardly seats two people comfortably.

If i were to go in a party of 6 people, as the property says it can accomodate, I would have been very dissapointed. I would recommend this cottage to couples or families with two small children (if they are old enough for bunk beds) but no more than that - there is not enough wardrobe space, the sofa bed is very uncomfortable, and there is just not enough room for 6 people to live there for a holiday.

All in all it was reasonably comfortable for the three of us, and it is in a delightful location which is also fairly central. No noise from the neighbours - the walls are incredibly thick and the cottage really retains heat.

A welcome pack would have been useful, ie how things like the water heater worked, where the nearest shops were, etc. We also arrived at 3pm, as we hadnt been told what time to arrive and the cleaner was still there, not expecting us until 4pm. We felt this was rather late to expect someone to arrive.

To summarise: Not enough room for 6 people, only one wardrobe and very uncomfortable sofa bed. Wonderful location and a nice quiet base for a family of 3 or 4 (with small children) - and take a corkscrew if you want wine....but the kitchen is very well stocked apart from that!
