Newly renovated apartment situated in the historic town of Ceret. Ceret is a cherry town, surrounded by a glorious cloud of pink blossoms in the early Spring and producing the very first fruits of the year. This is our first lettings of the apartment so everything in it is new. It is in the centre of the town close to all the local amenities. Stroll out in the morning to collect your fresh bread and croissants from one of the many bakeries. From the balcony/terrace of your apartment you can look down on the Saturday weekly market - a very popular event with locals and visitors alike. In the summer period there is also a Tuesday evening market which boasts a magnificent atmosphere. The apartment is equipped with all essentials to enjoy a restful or lively break from home.

Ceret is an area of natural beauty - a cherry town producing the very first fruits of the year. The first crop is delivered to the president each year. The tiled and painted façades and loggias of the buildings have a Spanish feel and the town was popular with Picasso, Brague and Matisse. Today, as a result Ceret is distinguished by the Musée d'Art Modern,it's sophisticated modern architecture housing a remarkable collection which includes Catalan artists Tapiés and Capdeville, a series of bowls by Picasso painted with bullfighting scenes and works by Matisse, Chagall, Juan Gris and Salvador Dali. The towns Catalan heritage is evident in it's bullfights and in it's Sardana dance festival at the end of August.Just a stones throw the border in Spain are the equally artistic towns of Figueres which houses the Dali museum and Girona with it's magnificent architecture. The mountains can be explored on organised walking/trekking tours by an experienced guide.

GENERAL:: Céret is very favorably situated to act as your base for an unforgetable holiday in the Languedoc region. It is 8 km from the last exit on the motorway before you cross the border into Spain. It is 30km from the centre of Perpignan, 200 km from Montpellier, 250 km from Toulouse and 180 km from Barcelona. So you can have the best of all worlds - explore the countryside, go mountain climbing/trekking around Céret and the next day sample the cosmopolitan city life of Barcelona. The area boasts around 300 days a year sunshine which means you can enjoy the outdoor life whatever time of year you care to visit. there are numerous restaurants to choose from - the catalan influence is evident when you taste the many mouth watering dishes available. The spanish element is seen in the 'Ferie Céret de Toros' which takes place in July of each year- this is the festival of the bull where bullfighting takes place and the bull runs through the streets. Something for everyone to enjoy.
