With two acres of orchard, totally enclosed and private (safe for children), the manoir farmhouse is perfect for a family holiday, group getaway or couples hideaway. Fun for kids - swings and activities for the children, pool in summer & peace, quiet and spectacular views for parents. Accommodation: Kitchen, dining and family room; salon; three good sized bedrooms sleeping 7 + baby, family bathroom and feature landing & stairwell. Outside: The rural location is blissfully peaceful & private. Parking to the front and side. Patio to the rear, lawned area and orchard. Lose yourself in the wooded orchard; stroll amongst the apple blossom in spring and discover the primroses hidden in the undergrowth, wander through the lush trees in summer to escape the heat of the day or take a dip in the pool. The beautifully converted rustic Farmhouse is situated in a tiny hamlet in the beautiful lower Normandy region about 20km from the world famous Le Mont St Michel. The nearest charming little town, St James, 3.5km away and founded by William the Conqueror in the 11th Century, features several good restaurants, shops & bars including the famous St James tricolours boutique. Just outside the town is the large Brittany WWII American Cemetery of soldiers killed in action during the Normandy landings. For children there is the nearby Water and Theme Park L'Ange Michel, the Zoo at Champreus where the lemurs mingle freely in the lemur reserve, the Aquarium at St Malo and Alligator Bay Reptile House. The beaches are only a short drive away and include the beautiful St Tropez-esque Jullouville, Cherrieux for land yachting & a playground, Cancale and St Malo. In the evening you can watch the glorious sunsets on the Mont St Michel over a Chantilly crepe and calvados or get glamorous at the Casino.

  • Master bedroom. The large, spacious & airy master bedroom features a fantastic half testor that was the top of the fireplace which ran the full height of the house before its conversion. There is a wardrobe, dressing table, chest of drawers and 2 bedside cabinets providing lots of storage - no having to live out of a suitcase! This room also has a child's bed and cot in it for families with small children. The room is at the front of the house & has views over the surrounding countryside. Bedroom 2. This light, airy room has a double and single bed. There is a wardrobe, 2 bedside cabinets and a chest of drawers. The room is at the front of the house and has views over the surrounding countryside. Bedroom 3. This is a beautifully presented single bedroom with a single bed, wardrobe, and chest of drawers. As in all the rooms, it has the original beams on the ceiling and the window reveals beautiful views over the surrounding countryside. Bed linen provided and beds made up.

Notes: The kitchen, dining and family room is fully equipped with a range cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster, kettle, coffee maker, popcorn maker & washing machine. There is a comprehensive range of crockery, utensils and pans, enough to make meals for up to 8 people. We also include small extras: salt & pepper, spices, tin foil, washing up liquid etc which are usually unavailable. The main feature of this lovely room is the majestic fireplace with the traditional male & female stones. The Salon is a relaxation area with TV, DVD & Video player. The library contains a wide range of videos, DVDs, books, a Playstation & games, board games, jigsaws and magazines. The farmhouse is set in two acres of wooded orchard with a lawned area where there are children swings, a see saw and an above ground swimming pool in the summer. We can supply rackets and swing ball. It is safe for all ages to explore and drink in the outstanding views of the countryside on the Normandy/Brittany border.

We had a brilliant time in this lovely place, and especially liked playing in the garden. Great fun seeing horses, cows, and tractors all week long (with a few beaches in between!)

Peaceful and great countryside

Our family of 7 (4 adults and 3 children) just returned home from a very enjoyable 2 weeks stay in this characterful farmhouse. Everything we needed for a restful holiday was there. The bedrooms are roomy, there is a large open-plan kitchen/diner/sitting area. A great area to relax in after a busy day! The children enjoyed watching a (supplied) video or DVD before going to bed.
On fields bordering the house we saw cows and horses grazing. A couple of cheeky hens came to join us whenever we were eating outside on the patio.
We went to a few beaches, ate fresh oysters and mussels, visited the impressive D-Day landing beaches, markets, Dinan, Dinard and there is so much more to see! As we have only seen a small part of this area we will be back!

Peace & beauty in normandy

A wonderfully secluded cottage on the boarder of Normandy and Brittany. Quite local walks with barely a car in sight, enchanting Cathedral cities and seafood galore. From the surf and sights in St Malo to the history of Bayeux and the overlord beaches, all are available from this family friendly cottage. Long green spaces for the children to play in, a long dining table and equipped kitchen to eat from, and delightful bedrooms to sleep in. You should be there already!
