Very large flat is in the heart of downtown, steps to shopping and walking distance to beach. The flat has gorgeous cathedral ceilings, stunning fireplace, huge patio, Has TV, DVD player, iron, hairdryer, It is also 5 minutes from train station. Scuba Diving at DinoSub - Praia a mare, The Isle of Dino -a marine sanctuary. Bay of Polycastro. The dive centre is on the beach at Praia a mare (2 miles from Scalea) between the 15th of June and the 15 of September. However they also operate from their office between the 15th of may and the 30th of September. The office is inside the holiday village 'LA MANTINERA' at Praia a mare. Snorkeling - lots of interesting sites in Scalea and up the coast. Canoeing and Water Rafting are very popular activities on the famous white waters of Fiume lao. Canoeing and Rafting Corner office located on Via Lauro and Via Sauro, 0985.21476 / 0985.91033. Horse Riding centre is located 2 miles south of Scalea on the Strada for Verbicaro and Marcel.

Scalea is alive during the summer months. Italians have been vacationing here for years during the summer months. The population swells as people from all over swarm around to the lush beaches, fabulous food, lively street music, pubs, cheap shopping and unbelievable mountain vues The weather is sunny, the locals very friendly and helpful, and the there are many little medieval towns close by that are worth exploring.. The ruins of Pompeii / Ercolano are a direct train ride away as well as Rome/Naples. The town of Cosenza is close by as well which has luxury shops and boutiques.

Ski: Skiing in the Sila Mountains - About 1 and a half hours drive from Scalea are Calabria's main Ski resorts. These are in the Sila Grande which is near Cosenza (travel south on the SS18 from Scalea and follow signs for Cosenza. Then take the road into the mountains. The 3 resorts are: Camigliatello Silano 1400m, Lorica 1350-1920m, Ciricilla 1400-1500m.
