Situated in a calm location within a short stroll of the village, beaches and Marina these beautiful, typically French properties are an ideal location for either a relaxing or active holiday. Both houses are within easy walking distance of the supermarket, boulangeries, charcuterie, bar and restaurant and only 800 metres from the beautiful sandy beach (Plage des Nonnes). A pleasant walk through the village takes you past the church square and the market, open daily for fresh produce (in season) or to the world famous Grottes de Matata (troglodyte caves in the sea wall). There are restaurants, creperies and bars in the Marina and there are daily boat trips to a variety of places of local interest. Close by are the historic village of Talmont, recognised as one of the most beautiful villages in France, St.George de Didonne and Royan with their magnificent beaches, golf and shops and the famous town of Cognac. You are never too young or too old to enjoy the beautiful, famous Palmyre Zoo

Situated in a calm location within a short stroll of the village, beaches and Marina this beautiful bungalow can sleep up to 7 people. Entrance to the bungalow is up 6 wide steps and onto the terrace. The main front entrance leads onto a hallway with double doors leading into the large, bright and airy lounge, log burning fire, solid wood flooring, three comfortable large settees one of which converts to a double bed if required, TV with integral DVD, CD player. English language DVDs and games are available. To the right off the hallway is the large well equipped kitchen with feature log fireplace, large pine table and 4 chairs, fridge freezer, gas cooker with oven, microwave and dishwasher. Along the hallway are the large bathroom, separate toilet and 2 large bedrooms. The main bedroom has a double bed and the second bedroom has three single beds. Both bedrooms are equipped with double wardrobes, chest of drawers, bedside tables, armchair and 2 wicker chairs.

Meschers-sur-Gironde caters for all tastes, whether you require peace and quiet, activities, beaches, walks or sightseeing. The property is situated a short stroll from the centre of Meschers with its boulangeries, bar, restaurants, supermarket and shops. During the high season the market in the Church Square is open daily with a range of local produce including fish, mussels, oysters, fresh fruit and vegetables, bread, cheeses, wines and meats. Take a short walk to the Marina where you will find a variety of restaurants and creperies overlooking the yachts and from where you can take boat trips along the Gironde estuary. You can also buy freshly landed mussels, oysters and fish on the quayside. At the heart of the Cote de Beaute, Meschers is situated 8 kms from Royan, metropolis of the Pays Royannais and 3 kms from Talmont, a picturesque village built on a promontory and classified as one of the most beautiful villages in France. A short pleasant drive will take you to Palmyre Zoo.

The entire booking process is managed by the owners who are friendly, efficient and accommodating, supplying useful information in abundance, to help with our stay - we took our family of three young children and thoroughly enjoyed the visit.

The local town is enchanting, the neighbours are extremely friendly and welcoming and the local food was excellent - there's something available for everyone in this town, from the superb caves through to clean beaches and vibrant local market area. There are some excellent restaurants within a mile of the location and there's a fantastic venue at the waterfront - Tina's, which features some truly gifted session musicians, along with the eccentric owner, who despite her natural talent, wouldn't be to everyone's taste - unless you're eccentric too!

We found the region, town, place and people superb and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the accommodation to a couple, family or group who want a good sized place to stay whilst enjoying the benefits of living life like the french do, even if it is only for a short while.

If you're thinking of staying here, stop thinking about it and contact the owners - you won't regret it, if our experience was anything to go by. Thank you to Jennifer, Harvey and the warm welcoming we received - a place you won't forget in a long time.

If you're the type of reader looking for a score, then I'd give the overall experience a good 9/10! Enjoy your stay!

A Wounderful Relaxing Experience

I stayed at this location with my fiance in April 2009. The house was very clean and welcoming. It was only a short walk to all amenities and to the beach, which was secluded, clean and had amazing veiws. We visited a couple of markets both food and one with all different stalls. The fresh fish was very tasty especially the oysters and mussels. During the day we would visit markets or just chill out in the sunshine in the garden and evening time another chance to eat tasy food and relax.The locals are very welcoming and friendly. This holiday home is kept to a very high standand, it is clean throughtout, a great place to relax and enjoy excellent food, would definitely visit again.

we spent our annivesary at this lovely home. very clean and homely. situated in a very quiet village near the sea, a real get away from it all location with lots to do nearby.
we would recommend this property and hope to return again soon.
