Location: Soller area in Spain
Car: not necessary
Described by the Rough Guide as “one of the most laid-back and enjoyable towns on Mallorca”, Soller is an ideal base for exploring the rugged west of the island. Palma, and the beaches to the south and north are easily accessible by motorway and Port Soller, only minutes away by tram is itself a charming and unpretentious beach resort. The town’s narrow streets, lined by French-influenced nineteenth-century stone houses open up to the crowded cafés of the main square. The enchanting (but expensive) towns of Deia and Valldemossa are close by.
