Almirida is a small fishing village on the northern coast of crete. The village is built around an attractive crescent shaped bay, boasting 2 beautiful, sandy beaches and a small fishing harbour. Both beaches have shallow water making it ideal for young children and less confident swimmers. Lining the waterfront you will find a selection of tavernas and café bars in which you can relax with a drink, enjoy the freshly caught seafood or sample some traditional Cretan cuisine. In the heart of the village, you will find a selection of mini-markets and shops including a bakers, a jewellers and souvenir shops. The picturesque, surrounding countryside provides scenic routes for walkers and cyclists. A variety of traditional villages, archaeological sites & small craft centers are just a few minutes drive away. A 30 minute drive down the national highway will take you to the historic town of Chania, with its shops, indoor market, old harbour and busy seafront tavernas and bars.
