Attractions of the hinterland: There is a hidden peaceful world behind the coastline and well-worth visiting. Perched medieval hill towns provide a life which seems so far away from the hustle and bustle of the coastline. The countryside around Grasse has a wealth of wild flowers, formerly used in the production of perfumes. Grasse was made famous by Coco Chanel, but you too can create your own fragrance in one of the perfume houses there. Take a trip to Cabris-a village on top of the world- the view is spectacular. Likewise a trip along the Grande Corniche between Nice and Monaco provides breathtaking views. The Parc de la Mercantour provides many hectares of National Park filled with wildlife- perfect for walkers and nature lovers by summer and in winter boasts several ski resorts. The National Parc du Verdon is about an hour's drive away and hosts the Gorges du Verdon- the largest canyon in Europe. The list is endless

Provençal Cuisine: Apart from the many gourmet restaurants in the area there is also access to the fresh provençal ingredients to take home and cook or take out for a picnic. Markets have an abundant supply of vividly coloured fruit and vegetables and other local produce to include local cheeses, olives, oils and vinegars. saucissons, sun dried tomatoes, fresh herbs, wines-----. Do try some of the Niçoise specialities , to include the famous salade niçoise, socca, the pan bagnat and stuffed vegetables. Bon appetit!
