The village is in an area of exceptional beauty with forest, mountains, historic villages and an unspoilt coastline. This area has escaped the high rise developments of southern Spain. Well-maintained coastal paths link the local small sheltered beaches and bays providing some stunning sea views. the summerwinds offers excellent windsurfing. Nearby towns such as Tamariu, Calella, Pals, Begur, Palafrugell, and La Bisbal are thriving places, many foodmarkets, crafts and pottery. You can take a boat to the protected Iles Medes Reservate - a protected sea environment for unique species of fish and bird life. Gerona has a wonderful Roman & Medieval town centre - a photographer's delight. It's stylish, yet still provides excellent value in the restaurants and shops.

The area of Baix Emporda: Baix Emporda, the area around Palafrugell, Calella, Llafranc andPals, is a region of great environmental interest with national parkland immediately to the west (Gavarres Massif) and to the north towards the coastal town of L'Escala. The Greec/Roman archaeological site at Empuries is a national treasure. It's really worth resisting the beaches on a couple of days of your holiday to explore the surrounding places of interest. For gardeners, a must is the Cap Roig Botanical gardens where you'll see the most important flora of the Mediterranean. In July and August Calella has a jazz festival in a superb outdoor setting overlooking the sea. Pals and Peratallada are well known for its Medieval construction, restaurants and an easy walk to enjoy local specialities and leisurely outdoor eating.
Swimming/diving/sailing/walking...:
You'll find an excellent selection of beaches all along the coast right down to Palamos. Our nearest small beaches and pretty bays are: Llafranch, Calella, Sa Riera, Sa Tuna, Aguablava, Fornells, Tamariu and Aigua-Xelida. Our nearest large beach is llafranch which is one of the most beautiful bays. There are 3 diving schools and boat rentals in Llafranch. Good snorkelling is found all along this stretch of coast as the water is cristal clear and the sea life thrives. There are many additional sports/leisure activities available in the area, and very good trecking/walking with well signed paths. Sailing, motor boats, jets, bikes, etc. can be hired from several boatyards. Our house has a list of phone numbers and will make a booking for you if you ask.
