Five spacious bedrooms are beautifully and individually furnished with period furniture and each provides magnificent views of the surrounding river valley. All our rooms are en-suite and contain either a king or emperor size double beds dressed in the crispest of white linen. Tea and coffee making facilities, televisions, hairdryers and toiletries are also provided.
Other accommodation includes an elegant sitting room, fully equipped kitchen and a magnificent dinning room set in the original castle complete with sixteenth century archway and castle walls, five feet in diameter.
The house is situated on 170 acres of dairy pastureland, and all our guests are invited to experience a slice of life on a working farm. Milking takes place twice a day, between 7.30 and 8.00 each morning, and between 5.00 and 5.30 each evening. All are welcome to view, or indeed lend a hand if so inclined.
The gardens can be entered through the little gate or 'geatin' situated directly across from our front door. This walk will take you beneath the original 16th century walls before sweeping down to the river Finisk and Mountain Castle bridge. From here the garden walkway will take you back to the main entrance and the 14 foot original castle gates which were in place before the erection of the bridge. It is said that two horses had to be employed to haul them across the river! The stone enclosed avenue will lead you back to the house's front gardens, where a gentle detour will lead you to the castle cellar. This cellar was closed for many years before being reopened in 1990. It provides an interesting view of the castle's foundations, which are built into the solid rock beneath.
