The British Rock of Gibraltar is a 3 sq mile peak rising up out of the Med sea, between Spain and Morocco Both English and Spanish is spoken by its 30,000 inhabitants who will welcome you with their friendly Mediterranean lifestyle. Gibraltar is a unique destination steeped in history. It has been British for the last 300 years of which its locals are fiercely proud and celebrate Gibraltar Day on 10th September when everyone wears red and white. They speak English and Spanish and a local mix of both called Yanito. A tour of the rock by taxi is strongly recommended as the taxi drivers are official tour guides and will show you the famous barbary apes, as well as the St Michaels cave and Siege tunnels. The view from the top of the rock is breathtakingly beautiful with vistas across to Morocco and Spain. For a change from history or tax free shopping in pounds sterling, try a dolphin watching boat trip. Day trips to Morocco can easily be arranged at any local travel agent.
