On the shore of Loch Fleet, a National Nature Reserve, in nearly 2 acres of woodland grounds and less than a mile from unspoilt sandy beaches, this modern and comfortably furnished detached home enjoys outstanding views of Loch Fleet and Beinn a' Bhragaidh. Property - Ground floor: hall leading to sitting-room with wood-burning stove, wooden floor and doors to garden. Spacious, well-equipped kitchen with dining area and tiled floor. Utility with WC off. First floor: Three bedrooms with sloping ceilings; one double with en-suite shower/WC, and two twin-bedded with zip and link beds (can be 5ft doubles). Bathroom/WC. Elec and Total Control NSH incl, wood-burning stove with logs incl, parking, shops 2 miles, TV/DVD, payphone, wireless broadband, auto washing machine/dryer, microwave, dishwasher, freezer, travel cot/highchair, grounds of about 2 acres, duvets with linen/towels provided.

Set in Loch Fleet National Nature Reserve, Fleet Ford is a superb base for bird-watching and abounds with wildlife. Dolphin watching in Moray/Cromarty Firths is of especial note. There are numerous coastal and mountain walks in the area. The demanding Wildcat Mountain bike trail is located on Beinn a' Bhragaidh above Golspie only 2 miles away. Fleet Ford is one mile from Golspie golf course, 9 miles from Brora golf course and 10 miles from the Royal Golf Club at Dornoch. Numerous Highland distilleries are nearby (including Glenmorangie). Opportunities for outstanding fishing for salmon and trout abound (The Helmsdale and Brora rivers and some of the best loch fishing in the highlands is close by (Lairg 20 miles). Dunrobin Castle, hunting seat of the Countess of Sutherland, is 2 miles away. Local archaeology is of note (Pictish crosses).

Additional information about rental rates

  • Change over day is Saturday. We ask that departing customers vacate the house by 1000 hrs in the morning and that arriving customers do not come before 1600 hrs to allow time for the house to be properly cleaned. Contact details of the housekeeper will be given at booking time to arrange configuration of beds etc.
  • A 20% deposit to secure the reservation is requested at the time of booking. Payment in full is requested at least 8 weeks prior to the beginning of your holiday.
  • If desired, lets of less than 1 week can on occasion be arranged by negotiation with the owners. Discounts may be available at the owners' discretion for reservations made a sufficient time in advance or for low season weeks.

We have had 2 fantastic family holidays at Fleet Ford. We found the cottage to be very homely, comfortable and welcoming, providing all we required for our stay. Situated in the most beautiful of surroundings the views are stunning and ever changing.

Being so close to Loch Fleet and the sea made for plenty of fun in and around the water and is a ideal family friendly location. Golspie provided for all our shopping needs being relatively close by, and has a number of pleasant restaurants and cafes.

We are very much looking forward to our next holiday there in spring 2010.

The location of Fleet Ford is simply stunning .....photos barely capture the beauty and peace of its loch-side location. I particularly enjoy relaxing outside, reading a book, listening to the birdsong and unwinding ! There are spectacular beaches, forest walks, castles, golf courses aplenty within the local vicinity plus numerous day trip/touring options by car. However, the real essence of Fleet Ford is that it is a "home from home" ....it is not a "sterilised" house devoid of interest or facilities .....whether it be the book collection, family photos, toys/jigsaws/DVDs and friendly information every aspect makes you feel welcome within someone's home. Having stayed at over 10 carefully selected cottages over recent years, Fleet Ford is the only cottage we have returned to (.....many, many times !!).
