Newly built, 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom house with stunning views over Lough Conn in County Mayo. This 'upside-down' house has been designed to maximise the beautiful views of the surrounding area and to take full advantage of this amazing location in County Mayo, Ireland. The house is located on a quiet road between Oxford and Pontoon and is an ideal base to explore the area. This is a detached property and is close to beaches, lakes, mountains, hotels and towns (Foxford - 2km, Pontoon - 4km, Castlebar - 17km, Westport - 25km) - a perfect destination if you enjoy peace and quiet but like to be close to activities when you choose. The house has central heating and further warmth is added with the stone fireplace with it's wood-burning stove and the lovely beamed ceilings add character to the bright and airy lounge and dining area. With satellite TV, DVD and a fully fitted kitchen, this truly is a home from home (with amazing views!).

This cosy home is located on the shores of Lough Conn, one of the most beautiful and scenic lakes in Ireland. About 2km away is the town of Foxford, with it's local pubs, restaurants, equestrian centre and of course the famous Foxford Woollen Mills. Just 4km from the house is the lovely picturesque village of Pontoon - famed for its stunning views and lovely walks. Lough Conn and Lough Cullen are famed for their trout and salmon fishing and angling is a very popular sport amongst tourists and locals on these lakes. Boats and fishing rods can be hired from the nearby Healy's County House, which also offers superb food and an extensive wine list. Walking is a popular activity here too as there are many secluded and quiet beaches on the shores of the lakes. Nearby larger towns include Castlebar, Westport, Charlestown and Ballaghadreen with Knock Airport located less than 40km from the property. This truly is a great base from which to explore the undiscovered West of Ireland.

  • A deposit of 30% of the total cost is required to secure your booking. The balance is due 6 weeks prior to your arrival date. If a booking is made within 6 weeks of arrival, full payment will be required at time of booking.
    A security deposit of €300 is required with each reservation.
  • A weekly cleaning charge of €75 for less than 6 people will apply. For more than 6 people, a weekly cleaning charge of €100 will apply. The house will be cleaned on arrival and will be cleaned weekly thereafter. Bathroom towels and linens are supplied for each guest.
    Additional cleaning can be arranged upon request at a nominal charge.

Equestrian Centre: Coolcronan Equestrian Centre is located close the house in Foxford. This centre caters for beginners, intermediates and advanced riders.

Pontoon Bridge Hotel: Less than 1km from the house is the lovely Pontoon Bridge Hotel which was featured recently on BBC's Holiday Programme. The hotel has two restaurants, bars and live music each week along with stunning views thanks to its fantastic location between Lough Conn and Lough Cullen. Both lakes are famous for their trout and salmon fishing. Fishing, painting, cookery and spa activities are all available at this hotel which is in walking distance of the house.

Healy's : Healy's is a charming ivy-clad, period country house on the shores of Lough Cullen. It offers an award -winning menu and extensive wine list and has fantastic views of Lough Cullen from it's dining room. It also hires boats and fishing rods for anglers.

Our stay in August of 2009 was an enjoyable one. With the help of Helen, e-mails and paypal we were able to arrange a nice visit. The home is comfortable and roomy. The couple of items that need attention are the breakers turning off if too many outlets are in use, stove and clothes washer at the same time, etc. Also there is no clothes dryer, which in Ireland clothes drying can take 3 days. The cottage is in a nice setting and not too far from a couple of small towns, Foxford and Castlebar. It sits between Lough Conn and Lough Cullin. Overall we enjoyed our time there. Helen, the property manager, is very accommodating. There were lots of maps and brochures in the living room chest which were quite helpful.
