A rustic farm mountain cottage located in the Rochao Hill in Arco da Calheta, the cottage is completely surrounded by the real Madeira nature. Arco da Calheta is a small village on the south west side of the island which is well known for having the best climate in Madeira. Arco da Calheta is the semi circle of an extinct volcano that erupted thousands of years ago and leaving the other half of the semi-circle under water. Several Para gliders who have flew over Arco da Calheta have affirmed to see the other half of the circle under water you could also see it if you wish to since the Para gliders HQ is only 5min from the cottage, Arco da Calheta is 500 year old village with several historical places. You could also walk the Madeira island levadas that where built in the early 1900's to bring water to the south side of the island. A lot of tourist's take these lovely walks to see the magnificent views and wild life that Madeira offers. More details about the property down the page.

Arco da Calheta is a very attractive village which has a social centre, cafes and a number of small supermarkets which sell everything you need. The locals reckon that Arco da Calheta has the best micro-climate of all! It’s a quiet location – you are more likely to hear the neighbours’ dogs and chickens than traffic. The Calheta Beach Hotel which is down by the beach has a spa which the public can use and there is a leisure centre, banks, a big supermarket named 'Pinco Doce' and the Iates marina with their restaurants. Driving towards Funchal you will find Madelena do Mar where there are restaurants and bars and a rocky beach. Further on is Ribeira Brava, with another rocky beach. There is also a small market, a large supermarket, banks and a number of restaurants.
