La Falaise is an unusual cottage built into the cliff just outside the fortifications of the medieval village of Domme - officially classified as 'One of the most Beautiful Villages of France'. It has its own private pool on a rocky terrace with a small garden. Being on the side of the hill, the views are extensive. Inside, the living room, with its rock wall, has a wood burning stove, satellite TV, DVD/video players and a large library of books and DVDs. The kitchen, separated from the living room by a Gothic rood screen, is fully equipped with a fan assisted oven, a 5 burner gas hob, fridge/freezer, microwave and all the utensils needed to prepare elaborate meals. (But the large range of restaurants in Domme are only 5 minutes' walk away!) Upstairs there are 3 bedrooms and two bathrooms, one of which can be made en suite with the main bedroom and dressing room. The second bedroom has a small balcony affording views across the valley.

Nearest Ferry: Calais at 800 Kilometres
Nearest Train: Sarlat at 12 Kilometres
Nearest Motorway: A20 at 25 Kilometres

This is the most exciting area of the Dordogne - where the river passes through steep cliffs and past spectacular castles. Canoeing (close by Domme) is a wonderful experience as is visiting the markets, castles, chateax, caves and prehistoric sites of the area. Domme itself has its own cave system. The Perigord Noir is also known for its food - particularly in the autumn - and Domme has a range of retaurants from the simple to the star rated. As Henry Miller said of Domme: 'Just to glimpse the black, mysterious river at Domme from the beautiful bluff is something to be grateful for all one's life'.
