17th Batignolles-Monceau holiday apartment: Paris

we had such a wonderful time in paris!! your apartment is great ... so cozy to come back to after all the awesome sights each day. your neighborhood is fabulous, especially loved the market across the street! i am quite sure we saw your cheese guy! LOVED the amande croissants from the boulangie over twds rue de clichy.

we did a LOT ... musee d'orsay, seine boat trip, le marais, st germain, eiffel tower, au printemps, rue de rivoli and le tuilleries, an open bus tour, les champs elysees! the food was fabulous, and we loved having lunch and shopping.

We had a great time in Paris and our greeter was most helpful. The apartment was excellent and fitted our needs in every way and all the information that you had provided was most helpful. We ate out in a couple of the local restaurants, enjoyed the sense of local community, and had some very full days of exploration and don’t think we could have crammed more in during the two weeks. One day we will return and hope perhaps to use the apartment again. Can I pass the word around in Australia?

Our family of 3 fell in love with the apartment, which is situated alittle bit off the tourist beaten path, and nestled well within a neighborhood where local people. The apartment was exceptionally clean and quite quiet. The beds were comfortable, with excellent quality bedding. The appliances were new and in excellent working condition. The kitchen had everything we needed, and we also enjoyed watching the BBC news from the comfortable lazy boy chairs in the living room/dining room. The owner was VERY easy to communicate with and very responsive to my many questions. A binder had information about local restaurants, markets, transportation options, how to use appliances, etc. There was a native english-speaker--the greeter-- available to us at all times. As we walked out the front door of the building, there was a fresh flower shop at our right hand, a covered air daily food market across the street, an amazing bread store/bakery a half block to the right and a funky cafe to the left (delicious food-frequented by locals mostly and a few tourists). The neighborhood had excellent culinary options (Ethiopian, Thai, Greek, Middle eastern). Bus and metro options were excellent. We easily used the #31 bus to see sights. We caught the nearby #66 bus to L'Opera to catch the bus to Charles degaulle airport--saving ourselves about a $140 cab ride!). There are two metro stops close by ("Brochant" is about a block away and "Rome" a few blocks further). We enjoyed our walks through the bustling Clichy area. It was easy to walk to amazing sites (for instance Mont Martre and Park Monceau)or use nearby public transportation. The area had a dizzing amount of interesting options for food, wine, clothing, books, etc and at prices that were a third less than we saw in the more touristy areas of town. The apartment was perfectly comfortable (did I mention it was clean, clean, clean!) and the area gave us access to the usual tourist attractions via public transportation while affording us an opportunity to experience a slice of life shared by locals. Local shop owners were friendly and forgiving of our limited French speaking abilities. We are recommending this apartment to friends and hope to return ourselves. Merce and family.
