Fabulous renovated cottage dating back to 1820, used as a blacksmiths and cottage, original gate hook still in the wall and original fireplaces have been found and restored. Patio secluded private garden, complete with pond waterfall and fountain, kept secure by locked gate. 3 double bedrooms (two with original fireplaces), bathroom with luxurious corner bath, bath shower, shower, toilet, wash basin and heated towel rail,window seat to landing (which was an upstairs fireplace), beamed lounge with large original stone fireplace, full stone walled, beamed dining room with two window seats and original stone fireplace, large beamed kitchen with washer, dishwasher,electric oven,gas hob,grill,fridge,freezer, microwave, and toaster. Downstairs toilet and basin. Gas central heating. Wi-fi .TV in all bedrooms. DVD .TV freeview. The cottage is fully furnished,with gorgeous 2 and 3 layer curtains(1 layer interlined) to most rooms,overall, giving a very charming, enchanting atmosphere

The cottage is situated on the green open space of the Granby Stray.A pleasurable 10min walk along the path, over the crossing, past the Empress Pub, past Christ Church & down Walkers passage takes you directly to H'gate centre,where we have a theatre opp.M&S. The newly restored Kursall theatre, the Conference Centre,the Exhibition Halls, see 'whats on' on their website. Visit the Turkish baths allowing 4hr for the full benefit. Also the lovely experience of Betty's tea rooms in town and the new one at Harlow Gardens. In the summer of a Sunday pm enjoy the band in Valley Gardens and visit the Pavillion for ice cream or drinks and food. Around H'gate-Walled York City ,the Minster,Yorvik Centre,Railway Museum-40mins by car train or bus.Cosmoplitan city of Leeds with Market Hall,Corn Exchange,Millenium Square,40 mins by car, 360 bus, or train.20mins to Ripley Castle,10 min to Medieval Knaresborough, 30min Fountains Abbey, 25min to Brimham Rocks, 30min to Pately Bridge. All a must see.

Notes: We welcome children, but please note the DANGER OF WATER to little children, the pond is approx. 3ft deep. We would be very happy for you to throw 1 SMALL handful of food in to the pond every morning. The fish food tin is in the entrance porch.The garden is all to the front of the cottage. The cottage welcomes all, but for any folks with difficulty getting up the stairs a bungalow would be better. Parking is street parking, anywhere along Granby Road with a permit that we supply you with. All bed linen, towels and fuel included in the rental price. If you could smoke outside please, although there is the entrance porch, which makes it a little pleasanter in these days of down with cigarettes. The washer, dishwasher and fridge are integrated. Welcome pack of tea coffee sugar and milk. The lounge suite will seat 6 comfortably, and the fireplace will seat 4 sitting on the cushions and then there are two footstools, which children of up to 4 years find these just right.

For the lady's to visit: Just a note for party's of ladies---if you come for a 2 night get away, an ideal way to say spend a Saturday afternoon is to allow 3 hours and enjoy the newly renovated Turkish Baths. Also to go to the very famous Bettys----the seating area has been extended, you can have afternoon tea with luxurious sandwiches, scones and cakes, Moet and Chandon champagne, tea or coffee. Indulgence being the operative word! We have all the high street stores, smaller maybe, but they are all there, but be sure to visit Hoopers, and see the original department store, also while your there, visit the silversmiths next door,all been there a very long time. The silversmiths/jewellers will value and buy any valuable piece you may have, but go in for the true H'gate experience.

For the children to visit: In the famous Valley Gardens we have a new imaginitive childrens play ground, the paddling pool is in this area too. Also there is crazy golf, tennis courts,an ice cream kiosk, cafe pavilion, model boating pool, ducks and duck feeding area.

By the way, when you leave don't bother tidying bedrooms in any way, just leave beds you have used unmade, it makes it easier for us to know which beds need to be changed, it makes it easier for us for the cleaning and changing ready for next guests, especially when we have a same day change over which seems to be happening more and more. Used towels just throw in the bath. Again this realy does help in that we then know which towels have been used. Thank you, I know that alot of our guests think they are helping by leaving everything soooo tidy which is a lovely thought, but we just cannot tell sometimes what textiles have been used.

this cottage sits within easy reach of Harrogate town centre and is nestled in the corner of a residential area overlooking parkland to the front.; sadly there are no views to the rear, and no rear garden or yard; there is a very nice
secluded front garden/patio/pond feature;the living and dining rooms have real character and good size;3 bedrooms upstairs are small but adequate for short stayers;tv provided in most rooms.
the only difficulty experienced during the stay centred on
problems with plumbing;the washing machine controls look simple but getting it to spin and finish is testing; the
dishwasher is reluctant to release the detergent tablet and
the dinner plates seem too big for the machine;only half the dishes washed well;the boiler stopped working after 1 day and could not be rapidly fixed;disaster was averted
by the fitting of an immersion heater for our hot water the next day;the greatest disappointment was the shower cubicle where the mixer barely provides enough flow to wash with despite good mains pressure;this could easily
be remedied by the fitting of an electric shower which would not be limited by the boiler function;these plumbing
issues took the edge off an otherwise pleasant visit.
