Casa Ana is located on the edge of Ferreirola, a small hamlet in the Alpujarras, the spectacular mountain area on the southern slopes of the Sierra Nevada in Andalucia, made famous by author Chris Stewart in his book Driving Over Lemons.
Ferreirola is arguably the most peaceful and unspoilt village in the Alpujarras with no bars or restaurants (these can be found in neighbouring villages), and only the sound of goat bells and the Trevelez river in the valley below.
The village is situated about 75 minutes drive south from the historic city of Granada, and the same distance north of the nearest Mediterranean beaches. As well as its stunning scenery, the Alpujarras is famous for its white villages clinging precariously to the mountainsides, for its Moorish history, and for its enormous variety of flora and fauna. The area has one of the best climates in Europe and is ideal for walkers, bird, butterfly and wild flower enthusiasts, and for those just wanting to escape from it all.
