Yealm cottage was formerly part of a working farm before being converted into a holiday home. The farm itself dates back centuries. Close by is Langdon Court which was visited by Henry the eighth in times gone by and now is a stylish hotel and restaurant. To the south is Wembury beach and the Mew Stone which are owned by the National Trust. The coastal path runs through Wembury and connects via a ferry to Noss Mayo, a pretty estuary village to the east and Heybrook bay to the west. Plymouth's Barbican area with the mayflower steps from where the Pilgrim Fathers left for America is within easy reach. Saltram House where 'Pride and Prejudice' was filmed is close by and the park which runs down to the river Plym is ideal for walking. Plymouth city is close by with its new armada shopping centre and Barbican leisure complex. Across the Tamar is Mount Edgcumbe Country Park and Cornwall’s lovely Tamar valley. The view from Plymouth Hoe is spectacular. Boat trips go around the sound/docks.
