The town is set on the banks of the river Temo, the only navigable river in Sardinia, it is possible to go up river as far as the Romanesque church of St. Peter dating back to 1062. The Temo valley is an area of fruitful orchards, olive groves and vineyards, having once being a flood plain. Around this area the prized wine, Malvasia, is produced. This vine needs the very limey soil found around the Bosa area, the locals are justifiably proud of this delicious wine.
The old historic centre of Bosa spreads up the side of the hill away from the river and is topped by Malaspina Castle on Serraville hill. The medieval centre of Bosa is known as Sa Costa. The houses are multi coloured and are built in a traditional tall, thin design. The walk up through the cobbled street leading up to the castle is well worth the effort. The views from here encompass the whole of Bosa and Bosa Marina. The wonderful beach at Bosa Marina is a pleasant 30 min.walk away
