Algarve & Beaches:
With a coastline of 200 km and over 300 days of sunshine a year the Algarve is one of the most sought-after holiday destinations in Europe. The climate is one of the healthiest and most pleasant in the world. With temperatures of 13 to 18 degrees winters are never too cold and with 28 to 35 degrees summers never to hot, with the cooling Atlantic breeze.
Bizarre rock formations, mysterious caves, endless dunes or peaceful bays only reachable by boat – the beautiful beaches of the West Algarve differ from each other like nowhere else. All of them stand out with soft white gold sand where sunbathing becomes a totally new quality. In Lagos and the surrounding area there is a wonderful choice of beaches. At the Western end of the Algarve you can experience the vast expanse of Meia Praia to delightful little coves. All have the same soft white gold sand. The nearest beaches to Cascade are Canavial and Porto do Mós.
Lagos:
The historic town of Lagos is the undoubted capital of the Western Algarve. Once a sleepy place, it has over the past decade transformed into one of the liveliest towns anywhere in the region.
The modern 500 berth marina has become a hub of activity in its own right with shops, bars and restaurants all around it. The marina plays host to a number of international events through the year, great for competitors and spectators alike. Visitors can choose from various cruises that leave from the marina – visit the grottos at Ponta da Piedade, go dolphin watching or cruise on a replica sailing boat.
The modern Lagos has a wide choice restaurants catering for all tastes and are all family and child-friendly. For the night-owls, the town comes alive at night and on into the early hours with bars, clubs and live music.
the Algarve International F1-Autodrome, 10km from Lagos, is one of the best and modern race circuits in Europe.
Golf:
In the Western Algarve golfers will find challenging courses in beautiful natural settings surrounded by the majestic Atlantic Ocean. This unique setting combined with the sea air and scent from the costal pines is certainly an experience golfers will never forget.
There are currently 70 golf courses in Portugal. Of the 32 located in the Algarve, 11 are in the western region. Parque da Floresta, Palmares and Boavista are just several of the most famous courses near Lagos.
