San Bernardo is in the middle distance of the two main tourist cities in Andalusia: Seville, Cordoba and Granada, through 45 minutes drive to Cordoba, 1 hour to Seville and 2 hours to Granada. Hornachuelos, a typical Andalusian village, is at 5 minutes drive from San Bernardo.
Within the nature reserve, a number of sites of historical interest attract international visitors. These include the old Monastery of Santa María de los Ángeles, where the masterwork of the Duke of Rivas, “Don Álvaro o la fuerza del sino” is set, and which would serve as inspiration to G. Verdi in composing his Opera: “La forza del destino” and the Carmelite Convent of San Calixto, where kings Baldwin and Fabiola of Belgium spent their honeymoon.

The Palace has lodged King Alfonso XIII for various years and members of the nobility and various illustrious personalities such as Rafael Guerra, “Guerrita”, one of the greatest bullfighters in history.
Years later, the present King of Spain, D. Juan Carlos de Borbón, in those days Prince of Asturias (heir apparent to the throne), would again honor the house with his presence.
Nowadays it is the property of Count of San Bernardo’s great grandchildren, who enjoy the house during the holidays and hunting season.
