Denia is a lively, popular resort which has retained its character. The town is also called the ‘Gateway to the Costa Blanca’ and its ancient old town beneath an ancient castle enchants everyone, as do the narrow streets and picturesque fishing harbour. You can get public transport form here to Ibiza and Majorca. The new yacht harbour in Denia bay has a colossal view of the town, and if you pause for a cool drink you’ll see a fantastic sunset. The bright sandy beach of ‘Las Marinas’ is just right for bathing, or you might prefer the rocky beach of ‘Las Rotas’. You’ll really love all the festivals, markets and brightly-coloured processions that take place all year round in Denia, e.g. in February the festival of Moors and Christians or in May the huge procession for the 'Madonna de los Desamporados', the guardian angel of fishermen.
