Gold Coast/Labrador Outdoor Activities:
From parks to the Broadwater, Labrador is a haven for those who love the outdoors. Aquatic sports are a drawcard for the area and are popular not only for those participating but also for tourists and locals who enjoy being spectators. Wind surfing, fishing and parasailing are popular activities and families with small children crowd to the Broadwater for fun in the sun and to swim and play in shallow still waters.
The Gold Coast is a golfer's paradise and there are about 20 courses within 30 minutes drive. Robina Woods, The Glades, Royal Pines, Hope Island, Lakelands, Sanctuary Cove and Hope Island are all superb courses that will challenge even the most serious golfer. Green fees are very reasonable (compared with Europe) and often include cart rental.
Labrador offers good motorway access to Brisbane city and easy airport access to both Brisbane International (50 mins) and Coolangatta (40 mins) domestic airports. Both airports are serviced by major car rental companies.
Theme Parks, National Parks & Wildlife:
Australia's most popular theme parks are within an easy 15 minutes drive. Sea World at Main Beach offers a wide range of marine-themed shows, attractions and rides and is a fun day for the whole family. Experience the magic and excitement of Hollywood at Warner Bros Movie World, or for splashtacular fun you can't go past Wet'n'Wild World or Whitewater World, Australia's biggest and best water theme parks. For evening entertainment we recommend a visit to the Australian Outback Spectacular - a unique and exciting evening dinner show capturing the grandeur of the Australian Outback!
The Gold Coast Hinterland is home to some wonderful National Parks and scenic walks, including world heritage listed Lamington National Park, Tambourine Mountain National Park and Springbook National Park. There are numerous wildlife parks where you can see kangaroos & koalas and other Australian native animals and reptiles, as well as whale watching cruises which provide an unforgettable experience.
Shopping, Dining & Evening Entertainment:
Labrador has no shortage of shopping with local shops, large supermarkets and shopping centres all within an easy 5 minutes drive! Chirn Park uis the local shopping village (1km away) with bakery, post office, small grocery shops, chemist, butcher, newsagent etc. as well as several small cafes and restaurants. Larger shopping centreds are easily accessible with Harbour Town Shopping Centre & Australia Fair Shopping Centre only 5 mins drive away. Harbour Town is great for fashion bargains as it is a centre for discount outlet stores. Both centres have multiple movie theatres. There are also several weekend markets within easy driving distance from Labrador.
If you don't feel like cooking dinner, you can just stroll down the street to the Broadwater and choose from a range of waterfront restaurants. Nearby Surfers Paradise offers exciting nightlife options and at Broadbeach (20mins drive) there is a large Casino and Nightclub featuring international shows and performers.
