The village of Marcorignan sits a short distance from the river Aude and Canal du Midi (world heritage site) in the heart of the regions wine making district. The surrounding areas are steeped in Cathar history with Bezier and Carcassonne in close proximity. The Roman town Narbonne is only 10 minutes to the south with its imposing Cathedral and market square. The Mediterranean coast line offers miles of sandy beaches. The surrounding countryside offers great opportunities for cycling and walking. It is also possible to hire barges or boats to explorer further afield on the Canal du midi. There are numerous local restaurants providing excellent local cuisine.
To the south the ancient city of Perpignan is well worth a visit and a trip to the Pyrenees, Spain and Barcelona are only a couple of hours away.
