Begur: Begur is a town with a profound historical personality, of its medieval castle, coral divers, fishermen, “Indians” (wealthy emigrants returning from Spain’s West Indian colonies) and cork workers have written brilliant pages of a history which is reflected in each street, each house and each corner of the town. We suggest you make a relaxed walking tour around the town, which can take you between one and two hours depending on your pace. We will call you attention to certain points of interest, although naturally there are others. In the course of this route, you can see outstanding buildings that invite visitors to relive the town’s history. We have the majestic dwellings of enriched returners from the colonies, dating from the 19th century, and the defensive towers from the 16th and 17th centuries that afforded refuge for the inhabitants of Begur against invasion by outside enemies and pirates.
