Situated at the end of a quiet lane, Lowfield is furnished in contemporary style while retaining traditional features. Conveniently located in one of the Lake District's most attractive market towns, the accommodation enjoys a sunny aspect with rural views. Ideal for those wishing to relax in peace and comfort yet only a few minutes walk from the fine pubs and shops of Broughton-in-Furness. The accommodation is situated all on one level on the ground floor of a larger residence. Its own entrance door opens onto an open plan living room with dining area and kitchenette. Plan each day's trips in the cosy sitting area with its wall-mounted TV and integral DVD player, hi-fi with i-Pod dock and electric log-fire effect stove. Luxuriate in the bathroom with its quadrant shower, bath and underfloor heating and then enjoy the comfortable double bedroom with its wooden beams and oak flooring. A continental-style breakfast is provided each morning.

Broughton-in-Furness makes an excellent base to explore the less frequented and more tranquil parts of the Lake District. This picturesque and historic village has a good selection of quality shops and award-winning pubs - all within a few minutes walk of Lowfield. Low level walks abound, such as around Tarn Hows while in Broughton itself a disused railway track leads to woodland and ponds. Cycling is also popular with an extensive set of mountain bike trails in nearby Grizedale Forest. Bikes can also be hired from the mountain sports shop in Broughton. Coniston Water and Coniston Old Marn are under half an hour's drive away with museums and stately homes to visit, a steam gondola and boats to enjoy the lakeside with and stunning mountain scenery to admire. The central lakes (Windemere, Ambleside) are within an hour's drive along scenic roads. The coast is also close by with miles of beaches and dunes to explore together with owl and wildlife sanctuaries.

My friend and I chose this cottage for our weekend break.We were only looking for a two night stay and the owners were extremely helpful and accommodating. We didn't arrive until quite late due to traffic but we we were still greeted on arrival and showed round. The cottage is lovely. Very nicely decorated and has everything you need. It was very clean and the bathroom had been newly renovated. The owners had provided milk, tea and breakfast for us and on the second day left fresh bread for us also. We found that it was a nice location for Bowness and Windemere, where we spent the day. The owner had left information in the cottage about the surrounding area and local attractions which were helpful. The village that the cottage is in is great for a pub lunch or a drink after a days walking. All in all we had a lovely relaxing stay and we would definitely recommend to others.
